Austrálie se v kontextu mezinárodních vztahů může jevit jako velký stát s relativně významnou mocenskou základnou. Realita je však mnohem komplikovanější. Australské postavení v celkovém mezinárodním prostředí je primárně determinováno její pozicí v rámci Pacifického regionu, neboť se jedná o nejužší vymezení prostředí, ve kterém se Austrálie nachází. Právě na tuto problematiku se tato práce zaměřuje. In the context of international relations, Australia might seem as a big state with a relatively substantial power establishment. However, the reality is much more complicated. Australian position in the whole international environment is primarily determined by its position within the Pacific region, because it is the closest definition of environment where Australia belongs to. And that is the subject of this thesis.
