The aim of the present thesis is to point out how success and failure in sports may affect the marketing strategies of an organisation. I will attempt to describe other factors that may influence a sports organisation both positively and negatively, and suggest how to deal with or avoid potential problems. It is mainly spectators and sponsors who form the target group that is influenced by success and failure in sports. This thesis takes into account all the aspects that are reflected in sports results (as far as team sports are concerned). The empirical part of the thesis presents the handball club TJ Házená Jindřichův Hradec and provides an analysis which concludes that victory is a marketing tool that affects the sponsors' decision-making and attracts new fans.
