Práce se zabývá senátními volbami 2008, a to na základě případové studie voleb ve třech pražských obvodech - Praze 1, Praze 5 a Praze 9. První část popisuje pravomoci, základní funkce a roli Senátu v českém politickém systému. Druhá část přibližuje průběh a konání senátních voleb 2008, dále charakterizuje předvolební kampaň, profily jednotlivých kandidátů a analyzuje výsledky voleb a jejich dopad jednak v kontextu celopražském, ale také celostátním. The article decsribes the Czech senate elections 2008, using the case study of the elections in three electoral districts - Prague 1, Prague 5 and Prague 9. The first part describes the powers and the basic role of the Senate in the Czech political system. The second part focuses on the electorial process, the way of voting, description of the election campaign and candidates' profiles. It provides the election results analysis.
