Bakalářská práce porovnává vývoj plodnosti a úmrtnosti v České a Slovenské republice v období od roku 1950 do roku 2009. Soustřeďuje se na vymezení shodných a odlišných trendů vývoje charakteristik plodnosti a úmrtnosti a zkoumá příčiny zjištěných rozdílů. Na základě analýzy dat jsou vyhodnoceny podobné a odlišné trendy vývoje demografických charakteristik plodnosti a úmrtnosti v České a Slovenské republice ve sledovaném období. Zjistili jsme, že slovenská populace je konzervativnější, vývoj demografických ukazatelů je stabilnější a podléhá méně výkyvům a vnějším vlivům. Dlouhodobě příznivější vývoj plodnosti na Slovensku je oslaben kratší střední délkou života a vyšší úmrtností, zejména mužů, v důsledku horšího životního stylu, četnějšího alkoholismu, zanedbávání prevence a celkově menší pozornosti, kterou slovenská populace věnuje péči o své zdraví. The objective of the thesis is to compare the development of fertility and mortality in the Czech and Slovak Republic in the period from 1950 to 2009. It concentrates on the defining of identical and different trends in fertility and mortality characterizations' development and the analysis of the reasons of differences found. Similar and different trends of fertility and mortality demographic characterizations' development in the Czech and Slovak Republic in the monitored period are evaluated with the evaluation based on the data analysis. We have found out that the Slovak population is more conservative and that the trends in demographic coefficients in Slovakia are more stable and less liable to fluctuations and outside influences. The long-term more favourable fertility development in Slovakia is nevertheless impaired by shorter medium length of life and higher mortality (of men, particularly) in consequence of their worse way of life, more frequent alcoholism, the neglecting of prevention and because of the fact that the Slovaks in general take less care of their health.
