V lednovém šetření se Centrum pro výzkum veřejného mínění věnovalo vědě a výzkumu. Jednou z oblastí zájmu bylo financování vědy. Lidé byli požádáni, aby se vyjádřili nejen k přidělování prostředků obecně, ale také k financování jednotlivých vědních oblastí reprezentovaných tzv. základním a aplikovaným výzkumem. In January 2012 CVVM investigated public attitudes towards financing Czech science and scientific research. Almost half of citizens think state should increase its expenses on science.
