River regulation with regard to the flood protection and revitalization

This bachelor thesis focuses on the evaluation of the current state and proposal of the river Bobrava, which can be found in the district of Brno-venkov. Among other things, it flows through the municipality of Želešice, our locality of interest. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part is devoted to water flow in an open channel and basic calculation methods. The practical part describes the site of interest, including hydraulic calculations in the HEC-RAS program and the proposed treatment itself. Hydraulic verification of the design and its evaluation is also an integral part of the work.
Proposal for the nature friendly measures on the river Bobrava

The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and evaluate in detail the current state of the Bobrava river in the interest section – river kilometer 1,832-5,743. Part of the work is to assess the capacity of the river flow and the objects connected with it and find the class of an actual safety at village Zelesice. The calculation of the flow rate is performed by using the 1D mathematical model HEC-RAS for selected N-year flows. On the basis of the results of the flow rate, it is made the idea of natural freindly flood protection before the value of the 20-year flow. The result is two variants of river basin adjustment, when each one is leading to make Zelesice safer place and to improve the current state of the river Bobrava.

It also deals with the regulation of the river and the development of parts of the city that arose after the regulation. There are also described floods on the Morava river and Olšava and then also the flood of 1997, which hit Uherské Hradiště. Related to this is the subsequent description of flood control measures. The last chapter suggests how the river can be connected with the city today.

Monitoring of 0+ juvenile fish communities in selected Moravian rivers

Monitoring of 0+ juvenile fish communities was realized in years 2012 and 2013 in 39 localities in 25 selected Moravian rivers. It was realized in collaboration with Povodí Moravy SOE research workers. The aim of this diploma thesis was to conduct a survey of 0+ juvenile fish communities and evaluate basic attributes of these ichthyocenosis (species richness, biodiversity, equitability, abundance and domiance). Secondary aim was the evalutation od hydromorphological conditions and water quality based on data provided by Povodí Moravy SOE. This monitoring was realized using the mobile FEG 1500 electrofishing device. The electrofishing crew moved upstream using continuous fishing strategy. Each locality was selected by highly experienced research workers of Povodí Moravy SOE. Caught fish were determined immediately and carefully retruned to the stream. In total there was present 28 0+ juvenile fish species. The most frequent was chub (Leuciscus cephalus, 23 localities), gudgeon (Gobio gobio, 19 localities) and roach (Rutilus rutilus, 19 localities). In 13 localities occured the fish fry of barbel (Barbus barbus) wich is positive surprise due to its sensitivity to water pollution. In contrast the massive presence of round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) in some localities was an unpleasant finding. 4 localities were without fish fry. This survey has observed increasing trend of biodiversity depending on improving of hydromorphological status while the abundance showed almost no diference. Saprobic index of 0+ juvenilie fish community increased with deteriorating of water quality which could mean that the fish fry is relatively reliable indicator of water quality. The results of this diploma thesis could be used in documenting of Moravian streams and in comparisson with another monitorings in these localities.
Vypracování investičního záměru na ekologické úpravy říční krajiny řeky Moravy v prostoru Mohelnické brány

Obsah závěrečné zprávy ke studii s názvem "Možnosti ekologických úprav podél řeky Moravy v Mohelnické brázdě s ohledem na ekologickou protipovodňovou ochranu" se týká perspektiv ekologické protipovodňové ochrany prostřednictvím rozsáhlejších revitalizačních akcí. Jsou zde prezentovány možnosti obnovy říčního kontinua a funkční říční krajiny. V rámci projektu byl řešen návrh optimalizace využití nivy Moravy, dále dostupné ekonomické nástroje k jejich realizaci a rovněž i majetkové poměry, včetně jednání s vlastníky a uživateli pozemků. Analýza možné optimalizace záplavového území je provedena na vhodných územích v nivě podél toku řeky Moravy nad Olomoucí, lze však předpokládat, že poznatky bude možné modifikovat a použít i při jiných projektech udržitelné protipovodňové ochrany a revitalizace říčních ekosystémů v rámci celé ČR. Zpráva obsahuje mapové přílohy, tabulky ekonomických a krajinných analýz, rovněž výpočet možného dosaženého rozlivu.
