Patterns of use addictive substances at active musicians in music groups in the Benešovsko

Introduction: Addictive substances among musicians is a common occurrence. However, this phenomenon is mostly described only by the musicians themselves in their autobiographies. There is little professional work to address this phenomenon. There are many factors that affect musicians and lead them to use addictive substances. Even though this phenomenon is so widespread, it is taken for granted and few pay attention to it. Aim: Aim of thesis is to identify and describe patterns of substance use in active musicians in music groups that are based in the Benešov region, but play outside this area too. Methodology Data were collected in the form of a semi-structured interview. A list of music groups was created using the bandzone website. These groups were then found on Facebook to find out their activity. They were also subsequently approached here. 9 researched musicians took part in the research. Responses from the interviews were recorded directly by hand. Overwrite was performed while data was being written. Subsequently, the data were analyzed by elements of grounded theory. Women's Role in the History of Czech Punk

Diplomová práce zkoumá roli žen v historii českého punku. V úvodní části práce je popsána historie a vývoj punku ve světě. V této části jsou vysvětleny významy pojmu punk jako subkultura (v terminologii pozdějších výzkumů scéna) a punk jako hudební žánr. Popsána jsou specifika ženské punkové módy a stylu. Jsou uvedeny role, ve kterých se ženy v punkové scéně realizují a typické ženské role v hudebních skupinách. Součástí teoretické části práce je stručný popis historie punku na území České republiky a zapojení žen v české punkové scéně. Jako jeden z hlavních zdrojů při vypracování diplomové práce byly využity rozhovory vedené metodou odvozenou od metodologie orální historie. Dílčím cílem práce bylo ověření použitelnosti analytického programu Atlas.ti pro analýzu orálně-historických interview. Tento software byl využit pro analýzu výzkumných rozhovorů. Druhá polovina práce se zabývá interpretací témat obsažených v rozhovorech. Věnuje se specifickým oblastem života v souvislosti s punkovou subkulturou jako jsou důvody, které přivedly ženy k punku, role přátel a vztahů, setkání punkového myšlení s autoritou v podobě rodičů a školy. Oboe section of Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra

Thesis about oboe section of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra introducing first prosopographical summary of oboists from 1926 to 2014, who were employed in the orchestra or were in long term assistance. A biographical inventory of oboists and their solo recording catalogues are fundamental prerequisites for deeper reasearch for developement of interpretative forms. The first three chapters describe resources, sources and historical and contemporary forms of radio orchestra. Chapter four illustrates circumstances of the formation of Prague Chamber Orchestra. The last chapter consists of resumes of individual oboists, including their detailed education and artistic career. Indispensable components of this thesis are charts of recordings for Czech Radio. The author analyzes the biographical inventory of oboists in radio orchestra and considers the role of the oboe section and it's position in interpretation of solo compositions. The apendix includes sources and other materials, photos and documents from the radio archives.
Conflicts of the local rock scene with official cultural politics before 1989

This graduation thesis deals with conflicts of regional rock scene with official cultural politics before 1989. The text consists of two large sections, whereas the first one discusses a broader background of the topic and the second one focuses on the problems of rock scene in České Budějovice. Social and political situation during communist regime is reminded at the beginning of dissertation. Following part brings information about development of rock music in the world and Czechoslovakia as well. Some conflicts of rock musicians with the official cultural politics are mentioned here as well, both in nationwide and regional context. The next chapters are based on interviews with witnesses and their recollections of rock scene in České Budějovice before 1989. The last third of the text pays attention to particular problems of this scene. There are mentioned not just minor difficulties, but also bans on music groups, brutal police attack against participants of underground music concert in Rudolfov in 1974 and unfair law suit with Jiří Gans (local jazz and rock music devotee).
