Music Educationalist Pavel Jurkovič and His Methods of Children´s Musicality Development

My bachelor thesis deals with the personality of Pavel Jurkovič, a music educationalist, a singer, an instrumentalist, an author of compositions for children and the youth and a publicist. It is focused on his educational activity based on the principles of Schulwerk pedagogy of Carl Orff which is built on natural connection between music, speech and dance. I also concentrated on his life's journey and his opinions and attitudes related to his teaching practice. According to Pavel Jurkovič, music education not only represents acquiring musical skills and knowledge, but music also positively affects the human personality. I devoted my bachelor thesis to topics such as voice training, folk song, vocal production for children, rhythmic rhymes and games with music and movement, body percussion, instrumental ensemble and listening to music. I attached pieces of advice and recommendations by Pavel Jurkovič on how to procced in musical activities and how to use his sheet music and methodical manuals.
Czech Folk Song in Violin Pedagogy

This diploma thesis, titled Czech Folk Song in Violin Pedagogy, discusses the use of folk songs in classes of playing the violin. It presents general information about Czech folk songs, describes their characteristics, examines the forms of their existence in the present times, and thinks about their future. The practical part surveys the problems of their use in improving musical and performance skills and introduces violin instructive literature of arrangements of folk songs. The final part shows the results of the research, through the answers of the questionnaires, the goal of which was to find if violin pedagogues of these days use folk songs during their teaching and how much they use the potential of these songs for the formation of skills of playing the violin. Folk songs and their role in the musical development of nursery school children

The aim of the thesis is to address the important role and benefit of folk songs in the development of child's musical skills. The theoretical part studies children currently attending nursery schools and their development. Children are often in heterogeneous by age classes but each age category is on a different level of development and has own specific needs. At the same time it is necessary to work in accordance with the education system and follow its curriculum. The thesis offers guidelines that give suggestions and examples of how to fulfil this requirement by working with a selection of folk songs. The majority of exercises address the all-round development of the child's musical skills (activities: exercises with music, instrumental, singing and listening). There are examples of other activities facititating all- round development of the child based on the topic of the song.
Folk music as a part of traditions in Chod region

The main purpose of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the rich folk activity of the Chodsko region, especially the musical elements within certain local traditions. The thesis envisages the music as essential part not only of customs and traditions but also of the lifestyle typical for this frontier region in general. Besides going through significant dates, this text discusses the development of the folklore in villages and in the capital itself - Domažlice city, the cradle of Chodsko region's festivities.
Folk songs from Pelhřimov, their editing innotation software and their possibilities of use

The thesis builds on the extensive work of bachelor of 2012. It examines the manuscript collection of songs Podstrážišťské Josef Václav Kratochvil. The first part describes the folk songs of Pelhřimov, folk songs in general and describes the development of folk songs in Bohemia and Moravia. This chapter also deals with the division of folk songs by region, collections of these regions and their collectors. These sub-themes also include sources and their gaining. Finally, the thesis refers to the collector Josef Václav Kratochvíl and his manuscript collection Podstrážišťské songs. In the next section the thesis classifies the literary aspect of songs, their themes and types also by the music side. In the following section the thesis discusses in general stylization of accompanied of folk songs. It also includes the possibility of using part of the folk songs and presents some selected examples of folk ensembles, folk institutions and the media which folklore spreads. Lay stress on the role of a family. Next the folk song is presented as a material that can be used in a pedagogical field. The essential part of the thesis is a supplement that contains 97 songs from the manuscript collection of songs compiled in a notation software.

Methodological Perspectives on Jiří Pavlica's Work for Young Listeners and Performers

The thesis aims to cover the musical work of Jiří Pavlica for young listeners and performers and to find how it could be used during music classes for children in the first years of elementary school. The theoretical part of the thesis includes Jiří Pavlica's biography, the description of the author's and performer's work for children and its relation to folklorism. The theoretical part includes also four methodologies of how to work with a folk song in the elementary school. In the practical part eight preparations for model music lessons are presented, the preparations having been devised using the four methodologies. The thesis includes also testing and commenting on the actual applicability of the preparations.
