Conflict in Syria and Its Influence on Selected Countries

The ongoing five-year-long conflict in Syria has had a significant influence on the situation in the Middle East region. Lebanon and Turkey, two of Syria's neighbouring countries, have taken in the highest number of registered Syrian refugees. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis of the development of the Syrian conflict, the motives and actions of the most important participants and the effects of the conflict on Syrian economy. The thesis also describes the level of impact the Syrian conflict has had on the economy, society, politics, trade and security of the neighbouring Turkey and Lebanon and shows the transformation of the foreign relations of these countries with Syria. It also portrays the issues connected with the self-proclaimed Islamic State.
Trade relations between the Czech republic and Turkey

Subject of the master thesis is analysis of the current role of Turkey in the region and the potential of becoming a regional power. Thesis is structured into four chapters. In the first chapter the definition of regional power is outlined. Second chapter analysis the current position of Turkey in the world, while comparing it to other acknowledged regional power. The third part focuses on analysis of Turkey's position in various regions. The last chapter is an analysis of the regional influence on Turkey's internal development and open issues connected with defined region.
EU candidate countries - evaluation of the preparation for Accession Process

The thesis describes the process of enlargement of EU, with emphasis on circumstances, which influences the enlargement process, with current candidate countries (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey) and the new member state Croatia as example. The thesis is divided into three chapters; first chapter presents basic information about phases of the process. Second chapter deals with previous enlargements of European Community, or EU. Third chapter analyzes current candidate states, presents their political and economical characteristics and current stage of the process. A part of the third chapter predicts future development and possible date of the entry of each candidate state.
Potential of MIST countries in the current world economy

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate every MIST country's potential in the current world economy. To evaluate such potential, this thesis assess through basic macro economical variables, such as GDP, GDP annual growth, unemployment rate and inflation, trade balance with territory and commodity structure, and also FDI inward flows. In order to evaluate the potential of each of the countries, long term data was gather starting from the 90's up to 2018 predictions. Such data is displayed in graphs and tables. This thesis is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter focuses on the definition of MIST countries along with its economic progress in comparison to BRIC and G-7 countries. The second chapter concentrates on countries as individuals: Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey. Each country is explained individually at an above macro economical variables, on the ground of which the prediction of their potential is based on. The third chapter explores the investment impact of South Korea, as the most developed country of the group, on the Slovak and Czech markets. Specifically, it is centered on the automotive production of Kia Motors Slovakia and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech and their economical gain for both countries. The last chapter summarizes the potential of MIST countries for future acting in the world economy
Turkish insurance market

The diploma thesis deals with the Turkish insurance market. First it is about Turkey itself, its insurance history, then it defines Turkish sectors of life insurance, pension insurance, compulsory insurance and commercial health insurance. Another important part of the thesis presents main Turkish insurance legislation and its harmonization with the EU. It is followed by the analysis of indicators of the Turkish insurance market in 2012. The thesis should provide sufficient information about the most important Turkish institutions and insurance and reinsurance companies. The final chapter is devoted to Turkey's potential for Islamic banking and insurance, because it should not be forgotten that the vast majority of Turkish are Muslims.
Turkey and the EU: Analysis of the factors hindering and driving the accession process

The aim of this work is to analyse the factors that affect the candidacy of Turkey to the European Union. The thesis is divided into two chapters, the first of which presents Turkey's own national development and its relations with the European Communities from a historical perspective. This chapter is supplemented with insights into the current situation of the accession chapters. The second part is devoted to the current and specific factors that have potential to influence the accession process. The most nominated include fear of Islam, lacking respect for human rights, economic aspects, unsolved case of Cyprus and others. These factors are selected on the basis of the frequency of their inclusion in publications and other sources. However, they are not evaluated in terms of the EU criteria, but the thesis brings a general view on the issue. The work thus gives the reader the opportunity to create a complete picture of contemporary Turkey and its efforts to join the EU.
The main factors that influenced the Turkish-Armenian relations

This thesis deals with two factors that worsened the relations between Turkey and Armenia. The aim of this work is their analysis. The first serious factor is the events from the times of WWI committed by the Ottoman Empire on the Armenian population, known as the Armenian genocide, which Turkey denies almost one hundred years. Armenians demand an official recognition of genocide from Turkey. The second issue is the border between Turkey and Armenia which was closed in response to the Armenian aggression on the territory of Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Although the war ended, no peace treaty has been ratified ever since. Despite the fact that there has been some development based on an effort to improve relations of the mentioned countries, their relations are still at the freezing point and there is no indication of obvious changes for the better.
Position of Turkey in euro-mediterranean area

The thesis is divided into three chapters, whereas each is subdivided into two subchapters. The aim of the first chapter is to first characterize euro-mediterranean area in terms of business relations in that area and macroeconomic situation of the given countries. The part is mainly focused on the Barcelona process and comparing macroeconomic indicators of Turkey with the rest of the countries. The core of the second chapter are business relations of Turkey in euro-mediterranean area and the aim is to analyze their intensity. First part is dedicated to development of trade between Turkey and EU, second part aims at business relations of Turkey with rest of the countries in given area. The third chapter targets to analyze investment relations of Turkey in euro-mediterranean area and its system copies the same structure as in the second chapter.
