Title: Quantifying aspects of orthosis in relation to ankle sprain Objectives: To detect whether various types of ankle bracing affect dynamic postural stability. Investigation of attenuation of vertical forces in different conditions. To determine range of motion for each orthosis. Methods: Monitoring of dynamic variables by piezoelectric measuring device - Kistler recording of dynamic changes. Mathematical modeling of damping characteristics and detected variables. Measuring of range of motion by goniometer with and without orthosis. Results: Results suggest, that bracing conditions have an effect on dynamic postural stability and orthosis limit range of motion. Attenuation of vertical forces is affected by using orthosis. Title: Case study of use of a motorized exoskeleton as an orthotic aid in the case of post-traumatic paraplegia. Objectives: Assessment of the effectiveness of using a motorized orthosis to improve motor functions of a patient diagnosed with paraplegia due to a spinal cord injury. Methods: The theoretical part introduces the issue of post-traumatic spinal cord injury and related paraplegia and follows a description of the function of the motorized exoskeleton (and comparable devices) as an orthotic device. The practical part describes the case of a patient with post-traumatic paraplegia of the lower limbs, which includes anamnesis, diagnosis, planned therapies and especially the course of the therapy with the exoskeleton, including its settings, application, walking training and data collection. Results: There was a remarkable progress in the patient's gait achievement during the therapy with the use of the exoskeleton. These advances were based on the data recorded by the software during the individual therapies with the exoskeleton. In addition to gait therapy with an exoskeleton, the patient underwent other supportive therapies, leading to an overall significant improvement in the patient's physical condition and motor skills. Title: Case study of ortho-prosthetic care of a patient with a diagnosis of Charcot osteoarthropathy. Objectives: The first aim of this bachelor's thesis is to summarize theoretical knowledge about the issue of diabetes and its imminent risks for the patient and the possibility of using ortho- prosthetic aids. The second aim of the work is to process a case study of ortho-prosthetic care for a patient diagnosed with Charcot's osteoarthropathy. Methods: The bachelor thesis has two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the issue of diabetes mellitus and amputation of the lower limbs, as an imminent risk of this disease and prevention of amputations. The practical part consists of a case study of orthotic-prosthetic care for a patient with Charcot's osteoarthropathy who also suffers from Diabetes type 2. It describes the anamnesis, protetometry at the initial examination, production technology and a walk test with an orthosis when handing over the device to the patient. Possible orthotic solutions of Pes equinovarus congenitus

Author: Petra Michalová Title: Possible orthotic solutions of Pes equinovarus congenitus Objective: The aim of this thesis is to point out and summarize the available options for solving the issue of Pes equinovarus congenitus. This thesis should also out provide vital information regarding the functional principles and technical composition of equipment and assess the influence of individual types of correction braces and create a basic overview of the relevant subject. The work is focused on the influence of knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) and ankle- foot orthosis (AFO) orthoses in one-sided congenital malformation of Pes equinovarus congenitus demonstrated on one case report. Methods: A proband at the age of about 1 with diagnosis of unilateral congenital malformation of the right lower limb (pes equinovarus congenitus) was involved. The proband was measured accordingly to provide specific data for the production of orthoses and then the subsequent production of three variants of orthosis suitable in the specific case of the solved proband took place. Results: The KAFO brace was proved to be the most efficient choice in this particular case. The aim of this work is to create a systematic research on foot orthotics, supplemented with the patient's clinical examination and testing, recommendations for the choice of appropriate structure of an orthotic aid and subsequent rehabilitation, which will serve as a clear textbook. The purpose of this work is to provide theoretical and clinical information that can help as instructions on how to select the best design and material of orthotic aids for patients suffering from the most common structural and functional disorders of foot. The whole work is written from the perspective of orthotics and rehabilitation. These two fields play an irreplaceable role in improving lives of patients with a variety of different diagnoses. OF BACHELOR THESIS Title of bachelor thesis: Using progressive splints in cases of spastic paresis of upper extremity The bachelor thesis is focused on usage of progressive splints in cases of spastic paresis of upper extremity. It is quite a new method in curing of spastic paresis, which try to prevent shortening muscles and others structures. The text is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is to clarify the terminology regarding spastic paresis, its basic characteristics and types, clinical symptoms and brief survey of cure of the symptoms. The theoretical part follows with differences between splints and orthosis and more detailed description of progressive splints, which are used in cases of spastic paresis for prolonged static stretching. This part contains types of progressive splints, their usage, and how to work with them. In practical part the comparison of usage of this kind of splints and therapy of upper extremity. The aim of practical part was to summarize information about progressive splints and their using. For this purpose an instruction book was put together and it is as an appendix of the thesis. Use orthosis for adults with spastic upper extremity after stroke

The submitted diploma thesis shows overview of the problem using upper extremity orthoses for adult with spasticity after the stroke. The aim of the thesis is to explore possibilities of using orthoses at different stages of the spasticity development. The theoretical part includes main information about the important point from central motoneuron disorder, it means spasticity. There is information about materials, production, availability and usability in various types of orthoses. Main part of the theoretical section shows research studies and available literature, which interprets using kinds of orthoses in various time when the spasticity was developed. The theoretical part follows the practical part. In the practical part are demonstrated available possibilities of using orthoses for interference spasticity in the upper extremity. For the practical part were chosen three groups of patients and each group of patients represents one case study. In the thesis are represented patients in acute, subacute and chronic stadium after the stroke. In each stadium were used different kind of orthoses: neoprene brace for acute, static-progressive for subacute and static thermoplastic for the chronic stadium. Injury or disease of the knee joint and the possibilities of orthotic fitting

Title: Injury or disease of the knee joint and the possibilities of orthotic fitting. Objective: The main objective of this work is a description of various diseases or injuries of the knee joint and the resulting restrictions on movement and stability of the knee joint and options of fitting suitable orthosis that these restrictions are reduced or eliminated. Method: The study focuses on the theoretical part, which is written by a bibliography. The first part is the attention paid to anatomical structure of the lower limbs, various kinds of diseases and injuries of the knee joint and limiting knee function. The second part focuses on the selection of suitable types of orthoses for individual disability. In this section, I will use in addition to literature and the experience that I gained while working on the prosthetic work and from more experienced colleagues on the practices held throughout the study. Results: The result will be a list of various injuries and diseases of the knee joint and the overview of suitable knee braces that can be used to improve the function of the damaged knee joint, and hence the entire musculoskeletal system. Title: Injury or disease of the knee joint and the possibilities of orthotic fitting. Objective: The main objective of this work is a description of various diseases or injuries of the knee joint and of the related restrictions on movement and stability of the knee joint and fitting options suitable orthosis that these restrictions are reduced or eliminated. Method: Work is processed search form. Work will concentrate on the theoretical part, which is written by a bibliography. The first part is the attention paid to anatomical structure of the lower limbs, various kinds of diseases and injuries of the knee joint and limiting knee function. The second part focuses on the selection of suitable types of orthoses for individual disability. In this section I will use this in addition to literature and the experience that I gained while working on the prosthetic work and from more experienced colleagues on the practices held throughout the study. Results: The resulting options on improving the function of the knee joint and thus also the entire musculoskeletal system after application of a suitable orthosis.
