Data protection in SRAM type memory with error correction code
Záhora, Jakub ; Fujcik, Lukáš (referee) ; Dvořák, Vojtěch (advisor)
The thesis contains basic concepts necessary for understanding the theory of coding. It then explains the parameters that will be monitored for the described codes. Based on the criteria, it selects the BCH code and the Extended Hamming Code, as appropriate, and further compares their properties to select a more efficient code from this pair. As a result of the comparison, it selects the Extended Hamming Code as more suitable for the subsequent design of the program. The code design procedures, tests that verify the functionality of the code, and the resources used for the Spartan-3 circuit to implement the code for the Spartan-3 circuit are then shown.
An Impact of Security Situation on the Position of Israeli Right
Seznam literatury: Alexander, Y. (2021). Conflict and Rhetorics in the Israeli Third Sector: Im Tirtzu's Discourse on Liberal NGOs
Kůstková, Daniela ; Záhora, Jakub (advisor) ; Boušek, Daniel (referee)
The present thesis is concerned with the ideological conflict between liberal and conservative NGOs operating in Israeli civil society. I examine this topic through the rhetoric of the conservative Zionist NGO Im Tirtzu, whose materials I subject to critical discourse analysis. In the discourse, I focus on the way Im Tirtzu depicts the New Israel Fund, a major sponsor of Israeli liberal NGOs. My analysis shows that Im Tirtzu makes extensive use of arguments that aim to create a sense of security threat stemming from activities of these liberal actors. Im Tirtzu presents the activities of liberal NGOs as a risk to the lives of Israeli citizens, the democratic and Jewish character of the state of Israel, and as a legal war destroying the Israeli judicial system. The thesis further explores strategies by which the movement seeks to win public support: I conclude that in order to engage a broader section of the Israeli public, Im Tirtzu stays away from including religion in its campaign, offers media content on various platforms, and avoids presenting controversial practical implementations of its agenda.

Analysis of the Official Israeli Discourse during the Second Intifada: Categorisation and Legitimisation
Záhora, Jakub ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Drulák, Petr (referee)
This thesis named "Analysis of the Official Israeli Discourse during the Second Intifada: Legitimization and Categorization" is concerned with discursive construction of Palestinian terrorism and Israeli security policies by Israeli officials in the period following 2000. The paper draws on works which refuse to perceive language as neutral communication means to describe the social reality, and instead approach it as a tool to impose and maintain social and political inequality and dominance of some groups over others. These theoretical foundations underpin the following research which examines legitimation strategies employed by Israeli officials in order to justify Israeli controversial measures aiming to quell Palestinian terrorism during the Second Intifada. The paper identifies several discursive schemes through which Israeli state representatives purported to legitimize Israeli security policies that were harshly criticized at the time. The basic strategy is to depict and categorize Israelis as peace yearning people who relentlessly offer far-reaching compromises aiming to achieve calm, which proposals are being adamantly rejected by Palestinians whose only reaction is resort to terror. The thesis further deals with Israeli officials' reframing of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a part...
The Intractability of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Comparing The Delegitimizing Discourse in Political Speeches by Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas from 2015 until 2018
Shin, David ; Oberpfalzerová, Hana (advisor) ; Záhora, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor's thesis views and analyzes the Israel-Palestinian conflict through the lens of Louis Kriesberg's intractable conflict theory (Kriesberg, 1998) and Daniel Bar-Tal's theory of delegitimization (Bar-Tal,1998). This work compares mutual delegitimization and the discourse of the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas by using a thematic discourse analysis. This work builds specifically on the theory of delegitimization of Neta Oren and Daniel Bar-Tal (Oren, Bar-Tal, 2007), which consists of five dimensions of delegitimization: dehumanization, trait characterization, outcasting, political labels, and group comparison. A sample of speeches of Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas from the years from 2015 until 2018 has been analyzed. The delineation is chosen in this way since in 1994, peace accords between Israel and Palestine broke down. Also in this period character of conflicts changed to so-called Third intifada, which consists of series of smaller frequent conflicts. Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas as political leaders of both countries play significant roles in the Israel-Palestinian conflict development. Their discourse and the contents of their speeches played an important role in society, because it gives it a direction. Both...
The Israeli Druze: Military Service as a Tool to Influence Domestic and Foreign Policy
Odlová, Markéta ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Záhora, Jakub (referee)
Master thesis entitled "The Israeli Druze: Military Service as a Tool to Influence Domestic and Foreign Policy" regards the relations of the Israeli Druze Community and the State of Israel. Druze people live also in Lebanon and Syria and are usually categorized as an ethno-religious and transnational group. They are distinctive for their secretive and esoteric religion and tightly-knit social bonds. The Israeli Druze community (composing less than 2 % of the Israeli population) is specific for its mandatory service in the Israeli Defense Forces, which marks a difference from other Arabic speaking citizens of Israel. The service in the Israeli army implies that the Israeli Druze people are loyal both to the state and the transnational Druze community. Using the framework of a theoretical concept of Strategic Military Refusal by Udi Lebel, the goal of the thesis is to examine whether the Israeli Druze community was able to influence domestic and foreign policy of the State of Israel in order to reach its own political goals, whether these efforts were intentional, strategic and successful. Alongside, it is also identified which factors may influence the loyalty of the Israeli Druzes towards the State of Israel. To achieve this goal, two cases are analyzed: 1) the reaction of the Israeli Druze...
The survival of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: why didn't Jordan take part in the Arab Spring?
Altwal, Yara ; Záhora, Jakub (advisor) ; Daniel, Jan (referee)
Analyzing the various factors that strengthened the Hashemite regime's stability during the spread of chaos caused by the Arab Spring is deemed important; even though the wave of the Arab Spring has ended, Jordan's economy is still suffering and the public is still demanding reform nonetheless, the Hashemite regime is untouched. This research will analyze the regime-society bond in light of the Arab Uprising that has undoubtedly assisted in the survival of the kingdom by creating a framework by which protesters unconsciously adhered to that entailed calls for political and economic reform to be initiated by the existing regime. Furthermore, the Hashemite's most powerful allies made sure to provide military and financial assistance to ensure the regime and the kingdoms remain secure and stable. However, such aid did not come without a price; it was critical for the Hashemite regime to balance between maintaining its coordinated strategies with its allies to maintain the close relations and maintaining its sovereignty and the foreign policies that serve national interests.
Military coup as a distinctive feature of Turkish military, the changing civil-military relations, and the current position of the Turkish army
Tkadlečková, Daniela ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Záhora, Jakub (referee)
The July military coup attempt in 2016 forced the Turkish nation to decide, whether it would follow examples of Republic's past and support the coup, or whether it would turn away from the army, thus giving up on the traditional perception of the army as a guardian of secularism and values on which Atatürk built the Republic. This work analyses how the Turkish civil-military relations changed, what factors influenced this change and how the Turkish society currently perceives the army. The research focused on four interventions staged by the army in the 20th century, as well as on the July coup attempt. Military coup is understood as a specific feature of the Turkish army and it is examined based on the theory of praetorianism; the coups in Turkey are then being presented as interventions, that were repeated not only based on army's determination to protect stability and the Republic as such, but also based on the nation's acceptance of the interventions which did perceive the army as a last resort. Furthermore, the work presents reasons, which played a crucial role in the transformation of civil-military relations in the beginning of 21st century, and it compares, how the perception of army by the Turkish nation was changing before and after the July coup attempt.
