Tomášek, Vojtěch ; Maleček, Jan (advisor) ; Prokešová, Eva (referee)
Title: Prevalence and factors associated with the use of nicotine products in the military: systematic research Objectives: The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to use a systematic search of scientific databases to create an overview of the prevalence of nicotine use and how soldiers apply nicotine. Moreover, find out what factors may be associated with nicotine use. Methods: To create this bachelor thesis, the systematic research method according to the referenced selection of items per the PRISMA recommendation was used. After completing the research question and setting the thesis goals, a script was created through the scientific databases PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science according to pre-defined keywords. Selected studies that corresponded to the predetermined criteria were further used to prepare the data and their subsequent synthesis. In conclusion, the studies were evaluated in terms of methodological quality. Results: A total of 29 selected studies were included in the systematic search. A total of 25 studies addressed the prevalence of nicotine use, and the individual results of these studies indicated a prevalence of nicotine product use in the military environment that ranged from 10 % to 53 %. Preacher and exemplum between scholar and popular culture in early modern period
Tomášek, Vojtěch ; Šedivá Koldinská, Marie (advisor) ; Mikulec, Jiří (referee)
This study deals with a two terms used in the context of culture and social history: the preacher and the exemplum. We depart from six Czech ear1y modem sermons published in the 17th and 18th century, especially from specific parts of them, those in which we can find those short moralizing stories, exempla. We analyse exemplum in its oral form as an communicative point between the preacher and his audience in the larger context of communication between a scholar and popular culture. Here we present sermonic exemplum as a specific type of ear1y modem medium. This study would attempt to outline some features of this communicative situation, especially preacher' s tendency to reform and discipline some aspects of everyday life in his community, that is everyday common problems of man and woman, problems of distributing gender roles and interconnected problems of drinking, domestic violence and sexuality. We have found two specific ways of communication preacher uses in exemplum: direct satire and tendentional description of ritua1. Speaking of the second one we expose the specific method, by which our preacher tries to change positive meaning of traditional ritual into the negative one. Therefore we c1aim that preacher wants to persuade his audience of absurdity inherent to use of some medical or magical...
From the canon towards an author: early modern homily as a source in historical-antropological research
Tomášek, Vojtěch ; Himl, Pavel (advisor) ; Koldinská, Marie (referee)
This study deals with one of the specific historical source of early modern culture, baroque sermons. At first part we analyze present research of literary theory from esthetical aproach and concept of canon to New historicism and his conteption of cultural-historical context. With the aid of literary theory we attempt to define new ways, how to study czech baroque sermons from historical-antropological perspective, and we attempt to point out, how could be this ways different from previous Czech or Polish research as historical-objectivistic aproach or, on the other hand concept of historical "consonancy". At second part we would attempt to suggest some concerete examples, how we could put our historical-antropological ways of research into practise. We analyze literary diskursus of two sermon books from Czech early modern preacher Ondřej František de Waldt and from Polish preacher Henryk Braun as well as we would attempt to define their local discursus as place of his social agency as provincial priest. We study, how both discursus relate with literary communication between preacher and nobility or between preacher and other priests and clergyman. In last chapter we analyze specific short stories, exempla as a specific part of sermon, in which we can see intentional agency of preacher as author...
