The way children use idioms in communication differs from adults. If a child uses idioms in speech, it does not necessarily mean that he understands their meaning. One of the important aspects of phraseology in language classes is that it enables children to understand the essence of language. This is a way to give them the idea that language is more than just a combination of words and grammar. Textbooks help children learn that words are connected to culture and history. They can learn a lot about their culture through certain idioms. The thesis is focused on the teaching of phraseology in primary schools. Students' knowledge of idioms will be evaluated on both theoretical and practical level. In the introductory, theoretical part, idioms and phraseology will be defined (following the author's bachelor's thesis) alongside their role in Serbian language school programs in elementary schools in Serbia. Convergent and Divergent Tendencies in the Word Formation of Contemporary Croatian and Serbian Language Standards

The topic of the thesis is convergent and divergent tendencies in the word formation of the contemporary Serbian and Croatian language standards and the current state of variant or divergent phenomena between the two standards. The frequency and dynamics of the use of selected noun, adjective and verbal word forms is interpreted on the basis of data captured in language corpora. The inspiration for this research was the application of a similar approach in corpus research of Czech grammar. The aim of this paper is to determine the current real state of the investigated suffixes in contemporary Croatian and Serbian standard languages. Since different sub-researches require different research approaches, the purpose is also to verify the suitability of the selected procedures and data sources. The proposed procedures may also be one of the first similar contributions to the corpus-based investigation of Croatian and Serbian word formation. The work may become a suggestion for the way of creating future language handbooks, focusing especially on the differences between Serbian and Croatian language standards, but also a suggestion for thinking about their form, since on the basis of the results found it is rarely possible to completely exclude a particular phenomenon from one or the other language...

The influence of multicultural parenting on the child's language development - Czech v Croatian

This work deals with the role of multicultural influences on a child's language development. The primary goal of this thesis is to assess how much influence multiculturalism has on a child's development, not only in the process of language acquisition, but in general in the personal development and self-identification of a bilingual individual that interacts with the majority of society. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The introductory chapters of the theoretical part explain the related terminology and the most common terms related to the main topic of the work. The following chapters describe and explain the history of the development of Croat - Czech relations and the situation of national minorities in the territory of both states. The theoretical part concludes with chapters on the definition of the theoretical basis of the language, including the necessary excursion into the issues between the process of simultaneous acquisition of multiple languages and the integration of bilingual individuals into society. Bilingualism and language management in Czech minority in Croatia

This thesis attends to the issue of a Czech minority in Croatia, local bilingualism and language management on various levels: from the level of an individual, over the level of the entire Czech minority living there and local government, up to the state level and its laws. In the first chapter I have summarized the history of Czech migration to the territory of today's Croatia, mainly during the 19th century, and their gradual organization after they found themselves located out of their home country when the Austria-Hungary dismembered. The second chapter describes current situation in the minority - its organizational structure, cultural life, school system and its information and publishing activities. The safeguard of its existence by law and constitution is also of importance. The third chapter dedicates to the language situation in the Czech minority in Croatia: Czech-croatian and Croatian-czech bilingualism, differentness in dialectological origin of the language, language as a system and factors that influence both, the language and its users. Kajkavian dialect in contemporary Croatian prose

Bachelor thesis deals with the occurrence and use of dialectal elements in contemporary Croatian prose. First, the typical features of the Kajkavian dialect are introduced, then its division and individual characteristics typical for the presumed dialects in the chosen works. The selected texts and their features are compared with typical elements of particular Kajkavian dialects which are used. The work combines linguistic and literary point of view. Using a linguistic approach, it determines the individual dialects and their features, the literary one assesses the role of the outlined features in the speeches of the characters and what the dialects in the selected works are used for. The aim of the work was to determine the form of the Kajkavian dialects in selected texts, how consistent the authors are in the use of dialectal features, or for what reasons they are not consisent. Another aim was to assess the extent to which the language of a work containing a dialect can reflect the state of the spoken dialect and the role of the author's stylization of the narrative. Bilingualism of immigrants from countries of the former Yugoslavia in Czechia from a social, cultural and linguistic point of view.

(anglicky): This diploma thesis describes the bilingualism of immigrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia living in Czechia. Immigrant bilingualism is examined from a social, cultural and linguistic point of view. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter describes migration from a theoretical and historical point of view. This chapter describes the migration waves from the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia in Czechia. The second chapter focuses on the description of the selected research methodology, and also on the description of individual parts of research planning, i.e. it describes the purpose of the research, criteria for selecting research questions and criteria for selecting respondents, as well as selecting research site and research material. The third chapter focuses on the research itself. The first part of this chapter briefly describes the basic concepts related to bilingualism and language adaptation. The second part of the third chapter focuses on the description of the course and analysis of the research results in terms of social, cultural and linguistic adaptation of individuals.

A commented translation of slovenian book: Jasmin B. Frelih Ideoluzije

The goal of this diploma thesis is to create an annotated Czech translation of a literary text. Specifically, the selected three short stories from the collection Ideoluzije (2015) by a Slovenian writer Jasmin B. Frelih. The stories chosen for translation are De Nachtwacht, Vrabci and Pritisk konca. The first part of the thesis briefly introduces the author and his work. The main focus of the work is the translation of selected short stories and creating a professional commentary. The theoretical-practical part deals with individual phenomena that may be problematic in translation, such as neologisms, vulgarisms, interjections, etc. The theoretical interpretation is supported by examples from the short stories. This thesis aims to clarify translation procedures and methods as well as to present solutions to the problems mentioned.

Occurrence and usage of variable declension endings of nouns in the contemporary Croatian language

The thesis deals with the occurrence and use of variable declination endings in the contemporary Croatian language. Apart from the summary of occurrence of these variable endings found in grammar books and dictionaries of the Croatian language, the gathered information from them is afterwards compared with actual situation of Croatian language as they are mentioned in language corpus. This research was conducted by using a similar method applied in research of the Czech grammar. The aim of the thesis was to assess to what extent the real linguistic description corresponds with the real state of the contemporary Croatian language; whether the presented variable endings are reciprocally equivalent and if and how is their use conditioned in general. The thesis also considers how is the variable declination endings of nouns described in currently accessible grammar books of Croatian language for foreigners. The errors found in the descriptions of this phenomenon in literature, which is the base for learning a foreign language, and the author's personal experience were a significant motivation for writing this thesis. The method used in this thesis can be considered as a modest suggestion for the future handling of disputable areas of Croatian morphology in the grammar books of Croatian language.

It's bringing theoretical description of phrasems as specifical units of language, that is particularly focused on phraseological comparsion. On base of answer sheets between native speakers living on Serbian area (primary in cities of Cacak and Belgrade) is build the research of knowing and measure of useage of some Serbian phraseologic comparsion, intercepted in Serbian and serbiacroatia phraseologic dictionaries and bases, theirs cultural backgrounds and motivations. Julijana Matanović - Commented Translation of selected short stories

This theses will pay attention to a commented translation of selected short stories of contemporary Croatian author Julijana Matanović from her storybook Zašto sam vam lagala. The first part of the theses will be focused on a introducing of the author and her literary production including her place in the context of Croatian literature. The second, essential, part will contain the translation of the selected short stories into Czech language. In the third part will be sketched the translating process, there will be also described the applied translation methods. Here will be also concretely analysed some translatological problems. In the language side, the work will be reviewed with the Czech language possibilities. There would be also the comparison with the already existing German translation of the storybook.
