ONDŘEJ PAVLOVIČ RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERCEPTUAL AND STRUCTURAL VARIATION OF HUMAN FACES: CROSS- CULTURAL COMPARISON ABSTRAKT The perception of facial features is a fundamental aspect of human culture, influencing daily interactions and relationships. This thesis explores the cross-cultural dynamics of facial perception. First, the theoretical introduction establishes the centrality of facial perception across cultures. Empirical studies included in this thesis elucidate the convergence and divergence of attractiveness standards among cultures. Additionally, this thesis explores the interplay between facial shape dimorphism, color dimorphism, and typicality across a wide variety of populations. The context of Vietnamese immigrants in the Czech Republic offers a unique lens to study the impact of the sociocultural environment on facial perception and preferences. By analyzing attractiveness assessments provided by Czech Europeans, Czech Vietnamese, and Asian Vietnamese raters for Czech and Vietnamese faces, the studies included in this thesis further elucidate the convergence and divergence of attractiveness standards across these groups. The results of these studies underscore the role of facial averageness as a universally significant trait in attractiveness judgments. Studies added to the appendix explore...
Influence of binaural beats on ideomotoric coordination
Pavlovič, Ondřej ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Name: The effects of binaural beats on sleep quality: a systematic review Aims of the study: The main objective of this study is to present the possibilities of influencing stress and sleep, to determine the effect of binaural beats (BB) stimulation on sleep quality and parameters, and to determine the specifics of effective BB therapy based on the available data. Materials and methods: This systematic review includes scientific articles and clinical studies published in relevant and/or peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Three electronic databases (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed) were searched for all available sources published from 2000 to January 2023 in English language. The search was conducted using relevant keywords and their combinations. The screening and subsequent process of elimination was based on set of eligibility and inclusion criteria. Results: Total of fourteen studies met the eligibility criteria. BB stimulation increased subjectively perceived sleep quality and reduced mental tension. Objectively, it reduces time of falling asleep, accelerates the onset of deeper sleep stages (N2 and N3) and increases their duration, as well as the total sleep time. The parameters optimal for effective BB stimulation can be laid out as follows: BB in the frequency range of 2 to 4...
Embryotoxicity testing of psychopharmacs using the CHEST method
Pavlovič, Ondřej ; Peterka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Maňáková, Eva (referee)
Psychotropic drugs are commonly used group of pharmaceuticals, their main effect is to alter psychic condition, including mental diseases treatment. Symptoms of mental illnesses are more and more common, theref orenumber of patients diagnosed with mental illnes, and thus using psychotropics, is growing stronger. But using psychotropics during gestation is not without risks for mother and embryo itself. However, thanks to the absence of controlled human studies, the knowledge of emrbyotoxic effects of pschotropics is limited to casuistics, reported side effects and animal experimental studies. Many of those studies suggests emrbyotoxic potential of psychotropic drugs, on the other hand, others claim their safety. The goal of this thesis is to test at least some of them, using CHEST method, that allows us to observe direct effect of unmetabolized substance on chick embryo. In this thesis we tested selected psychotropics, very common antidepressant fluoxetine (prozac) and antipsychotic drug olanzapine, for embryotoxicity, using in ovo method CHEST with chick embryos as model organism. By bypassing the maternal organism and his metabolism, this method allows to observe direct effect of unmetabolized substance on chick embryo. Results revealed embryotoxic effect of fluoxetin in dosage 10-2 and 10-3 on 3rd and...
Physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient after distal radius fracture: a case study
Pavlovič, Ondřej ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Mahr, Edwin (referee)
Author: Mgr. Ondřej Pavlovič Title:Physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient after distal radius fracture: a case study Objectives: The objective of the theoretical part is to summarize general theoretical backgroud regarding distal radius fractures (DRF), objective of the special part is to present a case study describing physioterapeutic treatment of a patient after DRF. Methods: This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first, theoretical part, general principles of DRF are described, including anatomic and kinesiologic relatioships, etiology and epidemiology of fractures and their respective classifications, commonly used diagnostic methods and therapeutic possibilities. Second, special part is a case study of a patient after DRF. It includes initial and final examination, description of all therapeutical units and final evaluation of its therapeutical effect. Results: Patient's condition improved, with significant reduction of pain and swelling. There was notable improvement in range of motion and also positive influence on associated soft tissue changes and muscle imbalances of injured arm. Results were both noted subjectively by the patient and measured objectively through examination. Conclusion: Objectives of this thesis were met. Keywords: Fracture, distal radius, DRF, trauma, injury,...
