The fracture behaviour of metallic alloys with low toughness level
Novotný, David ; Svoboda, Jiří (referee) ; Stratil, Luděk (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on determining mechanical properties of alloys produced by powder metallurgy methods. Two alloys were studied, namely a highly entropic CrMnFeCoNi alloy and an oxide dispersion-strenthened FeAlO alloy. Both alloys were made in laboratory amount of test material and miniature test specimens were used to measure their mechanical properties. The main goal of the diploma thesis was to develop a crack preparation methodology, to examine and to evaluate the properties of miniature test specimens for materials with low levels of resilience. In the analytical part of the thesis, tensile and deformation properties and fracture toughness of both alloys were measured. For the highly-entropic CrMnFeCoNi alloy, the thesis focused on the effect of the strain rate on the properties of the alloy. For the oxide dispersion-strenthened FeAlO, the effect of temperature in the 23-600 °C temperature range on its mechanical properties was studied.
Czech films based on well-known criminal cases: from reality, newspaper news to feature film and film reviews. Murder in Polná - Case of Leopold Hilsner
Jourová, Markéta ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
The thesis, called Czech films based on well-known criminal cases: from reality, newspaper news to feature film and film reviews. Murder in Polná - Case of Leopold Hilsner, deals with a criminal case which took place at the break of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. A young girl, Anežka Hrůzová, was murdered in the Březina woods outside the town of Polná. At a time when anti-Semitic sentiments dominated the society, a Polná resident and a Jew, Leopold Hilsner, was accused as the perpetrator of the crime. He was later convicted of this crime, and another one of a similar nature, even though there was no relevant evidence or testimonies. The period news outlets played a significant role in spreading the anti-Semitic tendencies. This thesis describes the course of this real-life case and focuses on the methods the media used to inform about it. Director Viktor Polesný made a film on the issue, Zločin v Polné (Murder in Polná), which is analysed in the thesis, along with the reviews written about this film, including the reception by viewers. The thesis compares the actual case with its film adaptation, and the responses of the media, which accompanied both the event itself and the film. Included in this work are also the historical context and the sources of the anti-Semitism of the...

Interactive cinematography and its main elements
Matoušek, Petr ; Štoll, Martin (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
Interactive cinema is a relatively unexplored area of film and new media studies. This thesis summarizes the theories and models which relate to interactivity, interactive narrative and interactive cinema that have been developed so far, and defines the main elements which the interactive cinema consists of. It sets this area in the context of new media and their properties, such as interactivity and convergence. It also briefly deals with interactive cinema from the historical perspective. The thesis explains the basic methods of narrative and visual analysis, especially in the context of interactive cinema. These findings are then used in the analysis of three films with a nonlinear narrative structure using viewers interaction. These movies are set into the models and theories that were introduced in the first part of this thesis. Finally, the films are compared and confronted with the author's hypothesis, which is based on the relatively negative public acceptance of interactive cinema.
The history of music journalism from the year 1963 until now
Frýdová, Tereza ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Turek, Pavel (referee)
Diploma thesis The history of music journalism from the year 1963 until now examines the development of domestic music journalism from the year 1963 to the present in three crucial periods. The first period starts by the year 1963 because at this time the first professional music magazine Melodie in the Czechoslovak socialism republic developed. The second period that I study in my thesis was the 1990s, right after the Velvet Revolution, when many new music magazines were established, led by the magazine Rock & Pop. The third period I study in my thesis are the times after the year 2000 which are characterized by the development of online music journalism and by diminishing role of printed music magazines. In the theoretical part, I briefly describe every period by key historical characteristics and I also describe theirs dominant music magazines. In the last section, where I focus on the present time and the world of Internet, I focus also on the online music journalism as a new crucial field of the 21 century which fundamentally changed the work of music journalists. In the analytical part, I choose important music journalists for each period whose work is linked to the period, and with whom I conducted the interviews. The research method is qualitative research conducted in the form of semi-structured...
National and International Taxation of Corporate Groups
Novotný, David ; Vondráčková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Bakeš, Milan (referee)
National and International Taxation of Corporate Groups The thesis deals with the national and international taxation of corporate groups. After examining the historical development of income tax and the tax system in the Czech Republic, the thesis compares how a corporate group is defined in commercial law and in tax law. The topic of the taxation of a corporate group's income in the Czech Republic is divided into taxation of the individual legal forms of the companies involved and the taxation of the income received by the members/shareholders of such companies. As part of an overview of the international taxation of the income of group companies, the thesis also looks at the methods for elimination of double-taxation, as regulated in bilateral treaties on elimination of double-taxation, and examines in detail the taxation of dividends, interest and licensing fees. The part focusing on transfer pricing explains the procedure for setting such prices in accordance with the current OECD directive, as well as the rules for preparing a comparability analysis. It then looks at the methods for setting transfer prices and the requisites of transfer pricing documentation. With regard to EU and OECD measures, the thesis provides explanatory information on draft directives on a common tax base and a...

Global Overlap of Czech documentary film presented within International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World Festival (2008-2018)
Fenclová, Anežka ; Štoll, Martin (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
The following thesis offers an insight into a collection of documentary movies, which were screened in the category Czech Competition (Česká sekce) presented by the film festival One World (Jeden svět), as well as the nomination process behind it. The first section of the Body of this Thesis (Practical Part) is focused on the nomination process. In particular its objective is to describe principal changes in the nomination process and at the same time outline its future developments. This is achieved by means of exclusive interviews with five Program Section members in charge of the nomination process (both former and contemporary). Heightened attention is being dedicated to the films nominated for the Czech Competition section with regards to its specifics. The other part of the thesis body is based on thorough analysis of the films selected for the Czech competition between the years 2010-2019. By means of original interviews and content analysis the thesis attempts to establish an idea of which features are significant for the films representing the Czech Republic at this documentary film festival and what conclusions can be drawn from this about the Czech documentary film scene in general. The theoretical part of the thesis offers sourcing this approach in expert literature.
