The suicide - Masaryk's lifelong problem
Kotek, Martin ; Petrusek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Paulíček, Miroslav (referee)
The work is focused on the theme of suicide in the presentation of T. G. Masaryk. Author's aim is to chart the Masaryk's life in such a way as to affect how the topic of suicide goes through the Masaryk's life and how is reflected in his work and opinions on the modern society. Is also pointed out, how this theme, in the background of Masaryk's philosophy, sociology and theology, mingles into all of these areas and connects them. The first part is devoted to young childhood of Masaryk and to his experience at the beginning of his academic career. It is outlined, how Masaryk got to know the theme of suicide and how he took it as his own. Another section is devoted to his personality and personal views on the world. Substantial part of the work is then focused on the interpretation of the religion and the modern developments of society in the administration of Masaryk and his theory of suicide. Following this, the author deals not only with this work demonstrative moral decay of society, but also with other Masaryk's works, in which is the problem of suicide reflected. The last part is devoted to criticism of Masaryk's concept from the mouth of past and contemporary authors and then the comments to the validity of Masaryk theory for today's society. Rare Disasters and Asset Pricing Puzzles
Kotek, Martin ; Maršál, Aleš (advisor) ; Korbel, Václav (referee)
The impact of rare disasters on equity premium and term premium in a New Keynesian DSGE model is explored in the thesis. Andreasen's (2012) model with Epstein-Zin preferences, bonds and a rare disaster shock in total factor productivity process is extended by a variable capital stock and an equity-type asset. We find that the variable capital significantly changes behavior of the model, capital depreciation must be substantially increased to counter the effect of variable capital and stochastic mean of inflation increases. The model calibrated to the US economy and a high risk aversion generates 10-year term premium of 90 basis points, rare disasters increase the premium only by 3 basis points. The equity premium is 163 basis points and rare disasters increase it also only by 3 basis points. The model with a low coefficient of relative risk aversion of 5.5 generates negative risk premia. Rare disasters increase the risk premia by mere 4 basis points in comparison to a model with i.i.d. shocks. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

In the empirical part of the framework are information used in praxis through the concrete marketing agency working in market research. Work environment is presented like dynamical example of modern company with explanation how works these aspects of job satisfaction and loyalty right there. Empirical research is realized with help of well-known methodological instruments used for measurement of these constructs to analyse and describe work environment of this company with a goal to identify the level of different aspects of job satisfaction and employee loyalty. Keywords: Job satisfaction, employee loyalty, work motivation, marketing agency

Relationship between liquidity and volatility of selected exchange rate pairs
Kotek, Martin ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Benčík, Daniel (referee)
The thesis explores relationship between volatility and liquidity of ten selected exchange rate pairs. Several volatility and liquidity measures are computed and the relationship between volatility-liquidity pairs is tested for cointegration and Granger causality; impulse response functions are computed as well. We find that volatility measures provide similar information (are cointegrated), while volatility measures differ to a large extent. A few cointegrating relationships between volatility and liquidity are found, but they are specific to only some currency pairs. Granger causality tests give different results for different currency pairs, but in general, the relationship between volatility and liquidity is two-way (feedback). Shocks in volatility or liquidity have little impact on the other and quickly fade away, usually within one or two days. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
