Climate change in the Czech Republic and its perception from the perspective of selected representatives of the energy sector
Staříková, Eliška ; Novák, Arnošt (advisor) ; Kotecký, Vojtěch (referee)
The present diploma thesis is focusing on understanding the opinions of the selected representatives within the energy sector, with regard to traditional energy on the issue of climate change, as well as on researching the possible change in their attitudes due to climate change, and on mapping accepted or intended measures related to climate change and energy. Traditional energy is already going through some significant transformation and the opinions of employees within this sector can contribute to a better understanding of the perception of climate change in relation to energy. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis approaches the issue of climate change in relation to energy, and also with regard to the situation in the Czech Republic or in the European Union. Furthermore, the issue of coal power plants and heating plants in the Czech Republic, as well as their role in climate change and energy, is also analysed. This part of the thesis deals more closely with the problem of climate change in the Czech Republic. As for the second part, it is devoted to the concept of nature perception according to Phil Macnaghten and John Urry in their work, named Contested Natures, which is also appended by the approach of Jan Krajhanzl from a psychological view linked to the relationship between nature...
Regulatory instruments of cycloturism in specially protected areas
Kostříková, Markéta ; Máca, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kotecký, Vojtěch (referee)
Cyclotourism is one of the most popular recreational activities nowadays, and specially protected areas are often chosen as a preferred destination. This thesis covers the issues that can arise from excessive tourist use of the area, or by not complying with the rules set by the law, or by an administration of the protected area. Cyclotourism has a considerate impact on the environment. The most affected components are vegetation, soil, aquatic ecosystems, and animals located near trails. Regulatory instruments of cyclotourism in specially protected areas are analysed and compared in this thesis. This analysis has covered four European countries, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, and Austria. The lowest level of restrictions was found to be present in the Czech Republic, the highest on the other hand in Austria. The degradation of the environment caused by cyclotourism is examined in the practical section of this thesis. On cycling routes in 9 specially protected areas, segments were randomly selected for sensitivity assessment... Indicators of sensitivity were: presence of a water body, forest, tourist attraction, elevation change level, and geological subsoil. Segments with increased sensitivity were visited and evaluated. Out of total of 73 segments with increased sensitivity, degradation...
Czech forestry subsides coherence with environmental policy objectives
Kotecký, Vojtěch ; Moldan, Bedřich (advisor) ; Müller, Karel (referee) ; Fanta, Josef (referee)
1 Vojtěch Kotecký Czech forestry subsides coherence with environmental policy objectives Abstract: Public bodies in the Czech Republic spend on average about CZK 1.2 billion (€ 44 million) a year on subsidy schemes in forestry. Subsidies are an important instrument of public policy; they also have major environmental consequences and may influence ability of forests to contribute towards ecosystem services. Consistency of forestry subsidies with the government's environmental policy goals in the Czech Republic is investigated in this thesis. Almost half of Czech subsidy budget is appropriated to schemes that have got an element of conflict with environmental policy goals incorporated in their design; thus, a range of environmentally harmful subsidies is potentially identified here. However, a number of schemes - and, in 27% of subsidy expenditure, even the same schemes, also contribute towards the same policy objectives. Farmland afforestation payments, contributing to the government's goal of forest expansion but shown in a statistical analysis to be focused primarily on regions with high forest cover, and involving a surplus of Norway spruce with a deficit of both European beech and silver fir, are an illustration of complex nature of forestry subsidies.

Výzkum ekologie a rozšíření‚ návrh managementu populací a záchranných programů zvláště chráněných druhů živočichů: Program péče pro velké šelmy: rysa ostrovida (Lynx lynx), medvěda hnědého (Ursus arctos) a vlka obecného (Canis lupus) v České republice
