The relationship between KDU-ČSL and Czech Christian churches

The thesis examines the relationship between the KDU-ČSL and the Czech Christian churches after 1989. The thesis outlines the development of the relationship between the church and the state, the shift of the KDU-ČSL from political Catholicism to the ecumenical cooperation of its members following the example of the German CDU-CSU, the political role of the church and the theory of the relationship between political parties and interest groups is presented. The thesis, within its practical-analytical part, operates with church subjects, which it considers to be interest groups, and strives to introduce and describe their mutual relationship. In the practical-analytical part of the thesis is used the content analysis of the election programs of the KDU-ČSL and are examined the priorities of the Czech Christian churches contained in them, which is placed in a wider context. The thesis also presents a case study of church restitutions, in which the phenomenon of the fact that the KDU-ČSL becomes a political party protecting the interests of the church in the form of the return of church property confiscated by the communist regime is presented. The aspects of representative democracy in churches associated in the Ecumenical Council of Churches of the Czech Republic

The thesis analyses the elements of representative democracy in the structures of churches associated in the Ecumenical Council of Churches of the Czech Republic. Although churches have not a generally democratic structure, the author examines whether they contain elements of representative democracy, according to the criteria for the functioning of democracy given by Robert Dahl. The thesis is also based on the work of Luca Badini Confalonieri, who describes the issue of democracy within the Roman Catholic Church in his publication. The thesis outlines the roots of democracy in churches in the books of Old and New Testaments of the Bible and the church history, especially in the context of religious diversity in the Czech lands. The historical core of the problem is how to properly appoint leaders of ecclesial communities, whereas this problem is already being described in the Bible. Furthermore, the work deals with the organizational structures of twelve selected churches in the Czech Republic, examines the methods of election or appointment of their representatives and bodies. Hyaluronan in chondrogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells

6 SUMMARY OF THE THESIS The main aim of the project was to develop a methodological approach of in-vitro chondrogenic graft preparation. This graft should utilise mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) seeded in a hyaluronan based scaffold. A review of known hyaluronan derivatives with a potential for biological applications was prepared in the first phase of the project. (Sedova, Knotkova et al. 2007) As a result of the review, a hydrogel based on tyramine derivative of hyaluronan cross-linked by peroxidase (HA-TA scaffold) was chosen for the following research. A sufficiently rich, reliable and ethically acceptable source of MSCs was required. Washed bone marrow collection sets remaining after bone marrow collection for transplantation purposes was demonstrated to meet these needs. (Dvorakova, Hruba et al. 2008) MSCs reveal specific features, namely low seeding density and morphological changes during culture, which may affect the outcome of cell viability measurements in experiments. In order to solve this complication, three different methods of cell viability determination were compared, and the luminiscent detection of intracellular ATP was recommended for MSC applications.
