The Comparison of the Czech and Slovak Governments between 1992 and 2002
Bobula, Filip ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Cabada, Ladislav (referee)
The Master thesis "The Comparison of the Czech and Slovak governments between 1992 and 2002" deals with the problem of the establishment of governments, the main coalition and oposition parties and the main situations of political life of Czech and Slovak governments in this period. The thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter one is an introduction to the topic and focuses on the process of constitution development in both countries, which was taking place in the period of the Federation. The second chapter covers the period from 1992 to 1998 and the third chapter 1998 to 2002. The following section constitutes the comparison of these specific periods. The main comparison parameters are: the stability of the party systems, the consolidation of the society, and the foreign policy development. The Czech Republic appears to be better in this excercise. It's party system is far more stabilized and it's society is much more homogenic. As argued in the thesis, this result is mainly due to the lack of any anti-democratic and authoritative element on the political scene, as it was in the period of Meciar's government in Slovakia. During this period of nearly six years, Slovakia had fallen behind in all areas of society development, in comparison to other countries, namely the Czech Republic. Fortunately due...

Fialková, Andrea ; Lebeda, Tomáš (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee) ; Cabada, Ladislav (referee)
This master thesis is focused on current situation in Bosnia and Hercegovina, mainly on its implemented consociational democracy and its influence in politic and party system and electoral process. First the concrete approach is explained followed by description of political institutions and analysis of election law where the local specifics are emphasised. The most important part after description of parties is the analysis of their activities before and during elections. Comparison of their election results and specifics of concrete elections helps me to decide if the implemented consociational democracy was/is the right way to end the conflict in the country and to anticipate the future progress there. Internal Development of Macedonia (1991-2005)
Drinková, Zuzana ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Cabada, Ladislav (referee)
The Republic of Macedonia gained its independence peacefully in November 1991 and was the only one ofthe former Yugoslav republic that got its independence peacefully. The peacefully transformation of Macedonia was preceded by an uneasy period of democratic consolidation. Among the different factors that negatively influenced succesful consolidation were - the struggle for the international recognition of the country, the Greek diplomatic and economic pressure for the republic to change its name, the disruption of the economy due to the UN sanctions on Macedonia's main trade partner Serbia, and the Kosovo refugee crisis. None of these factors hadn't a such strong importance for the consolidation of Macedonia as the disputing of character of the state by Macedonian Albanians. Ethnic Albanians were according to Constitution relegated to the category of a minority, just like Turks, Vlachs, Roma and others. Ethnic Albanians disagreed with these status of minority. Their activities were directed towards the achievement of a different constitutional status for their ethnic group - redefinition of the Republic of Macedonia as a bi-national state, affirmation of the Albanian language as a second official language, education in the mother tongue on all levels, proportionate representation of Albanians in all public...

The Influence of Cyber Terrorism Threat on the American Security Policy
Rezek, Tomáš ; Calda, Miloš (advisor) ; Mareš, Miroslav (referee) ; Cabada, Ladislav (referee) ; Polčák, Radim (referee)
(English) The aim of this dissertation is to answer the question of whether the U.S. security policy is influenced by the threat of cyber terrorism. The dissertation is divided into chapters that can be regarded as steps in a logical reasoning process. In the first chapter, cyber space is introduced and described to illustrate its importance and complexity. The next chapter analytically compares various definitions of terrorism, and partially rejects the initial hypothesis that cyber terrorism is not included in the general definition of terrorism. The following chapter statistically analyzes the available data on terrorist groups and terrorist attacks to empirically confirm the hypothesis that terrorism is still a real threat to American security. The analysis actually proves that the threat of terrorism has not decreased in relation to the number of terrorist groups. It also shows that the number of terrorist attacks against the U.S. targets has significantly decreased in the United States, while terrorist actions have been increasing constantly on a global level. The analysis shows that the success rate of terrorists attacks does not form a time series, and therefore each terrorist attack has to be examined individually to assess its success probability. The following analysis reviews the...
