Determination of residual substances from the preparation of colloidal systems based on biopolymers
Borůvková, Tereza ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Mravec, Filip (advisor)
Volatile organic compounds could be isolated and concentrated from liquid solution using methods, which are based on analysis of equilibrium gas phase, because of their volatility. The aim of this bachelor´s thesis is determination the amount of residual tert-butanol, belonging to volatile organic compounds, in the samples after lyophilisation. Samples were prepared by mixing hydrofobic sonde and hydrofilic hyaluronan. For mixing these components it is necessary to add organic solvent tert-butanol, which ensures stable environment. Thanks to its presence mixing of probe and hyaluronan occurs. Consecutive lyopfilisation of the sample leads to the disruption of a water cover of hyaluronan and nonpolar hydrogen atoms, which are hidden in it, can interact with hydrofobic probe. Bonding the probe is important in oncology, where this fact could be used in targeted distribution of pharmaceuticals. However presence of tert-butanol is unacceptable in the final product, mainly in medical applications. The object this study is the minimization of residual tert-butanol amount in final lyophilised cake. The method of equilibrium gas phase analysis (static Head-Space) by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC/FID) was used for the determination of its content.
Determination of polar pesticides in waste and surface waters
Borůvková, Tereza ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Čáslavský, Josef (advisor)
This work is focused on the determination of polar pesticides in surface and waste waters. In this study Mecoprop-P, MCPA, Dichlorprop-P, 2,4-D and MCPBA in differently loaded surface waters and communal waters from sewage treatment plants were analyzed. These herbicides are included in the group identified as environmental quality standards. Some of herbicides (2,4-D and MCPA) were selected because their consumption in the Czech Republic exceeds 30 tons a year. Samples were collected prom three rivers near town of Jaroměř (Elbe, Úpa and Metuje Rivers), from one river near the town of Brno (Svratka River) and from inflow and outflow of two sewage treatment plants (WWTP Jaroměř, WWTP Brno – Modřice). Particular rivers were chosen for monitoring due to the probability of occurrence of herbicides, because they flow through agriculturally cultivated areas. Solid phase extraction (SPE) was used for the isolation of target compounds and their concentration. Gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS) was used for the determination of target analytes in surface and waste waters. Selected herbicides were detected in all collected samples.
Anti-homosexual legislation in Russian territory and it's development
Borůvková, Tereza ; Čížek, Martin (advisor) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
This work is focused on development of anti-homosexual legislation and conditions of decriminalization in the newly established Russian federation. It is focused on attempts to organize Gay Pride festival in Moscow in 2006 and negative reactions of Russian authorities and subsequent lawsuit. The works informs on change in rhetoric with respect to LGBT community, which was cause by medialization of Gay Pride affair as well conservatism that was being established. It describes Russian conservatism that set itself in contrast to the West by its traditional values, which are in alleged conflict with homosexuality. This development reached its summit in 2013 when anti-propagation law was enacted on federal level. We then focus on immediate reaction to enactment of this legislation and its effects. The work draws from academic articles that appeared after enactment of the act and, and importantly also news articles that could capture ensuing event in real time. It becomes apparent that ostracizing of homosexuals in Russia is a long-term trend that is supported by state controlled news agencies and legislative steps. We explain behavior that is subjected to recently enacted anti-propagation act and reasons for its enactment. In addition, we review how this act is criticized by LGBT activists all over the...
Prison privatization in England and Wales
Borůvková, Tereza ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Váška, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the process of prison privatization in the United Kingdom particularly in England and Wales especially in the form of PFI deals, in which the private sector not only manages prison facility but also designs and constructs the buildings. Due to transfer of this kind of service we can look at the relationship between state and private provider trough the lenses of Principal-agent theory. This theory, in its purest form, is constituted of one principal and one agent to whom the performance of the service is transferred, part of the risks associated with it and also a certain decision-making power are transferred as well. According to the theory, the basic precondition for the relationship between the principal and the agent is a discrepancy in the goals of the actors and the agent's effort to act opportunistically at the expense of the performance of the service for the principal. In this sense, the thesis examines the decision from 2018 not to launch new PFI or its successor PF2 projects. In this scenario, England and Wales are the principal and the prison operators are the agents. The hypothesis of the thesis is that this decision not to launch new PFI projects is related to problematic aspects of the relationship between the principal and the agent and that the control...
