1 Název disertační práce, abstrakt a 3 klíčová slova v anglickém jazyce Czech Republic as a Laic State Abstract The dissertation on The Czech Republic as a Laic State focuses on the complicated relationship between the Czech state, churches, and religious societies, which on one hand symbolizes centuries of efforts trying to separate the state from the churches (especially the Roman Catholic one) and on the other hand a long struggle for religious freedom. Its main research question is whether the Czech Republic is a laic state. Despite its obvious importance and topicality, this topic is not much addressed in contemporary Czech constitutional law theory. The thesis is divided into six extensive chapters containing both constitutional and state law aspects of the relationship between the state and churches, as well as human rights theory concerning religious freedom. An extensive historical and legal analysis of history has not been omitted as well. In the second chapter, the reader will thus learn what the principle of laïcité is, from which the present model of the laic state has developed, and what its roots are. Paper: The change of the substantive attributes of the democratic, law-abiding State in the case law of the Czech Constitutional Court Author: Ondřej Preuss Abstract: The paper "The change of the substantive attributes of the democratic, law-abiding State in the case law of the Czech Constitutional Court" aims to present the approach of the Czech Constitutional Court to the change or modication of the substantive requisites of the democratic, law-abiding State and their understanding. The papaer is concluded that the examined approach of the Czech Constitutional Court is obviously possible, however pro futuro it would seem more appropriate to proceed cautiously and with considerable self-restraint. Otherwise the values protected by the Constitutional Court could be in stake because of the activist approach of the Constitutional Court itself.

Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities The thesis deals with the current development of human rights of persons with disabilities from the perspective of constitutional law. The work first maps the historical changes of the legal status of persons with disabilities - from antiquity to the tragic experience of denying human dignity in the first half of the 20th century. Furthermore, the thesis shows the development of the human rights of persons with disabilities in the second half of the 20th century. A key driver of this process is the value of human dignity, which, following the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, has become the main starting point for the protection of human rights (not only) persons with disabilities. The changes in the concept of human rights of people with disabilities are related to the shift from the medical to the social concept of disability, on the basis of which the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was adopted in 2006. This convention embodies a new approach to human rights of persons with disabilities, who should no longer be subject only to charity and social security regulations, but above all they should be recognized as they are - as an equal legal subjects and full members of the society.
