Target is to make education more interesting and more practital than is teoretical explication. Complicated professional equipments are not right for education because they are very expensive and hard to use. So I aim for special equipment, which can be more acquisition.

The world of Kitsch and possibilities of Eco`s Semiotics of Mass Communication

This diploma thesis explores the phenomenon of kitsch. One of the aims of the thesis is to address significant theories (H. Broch, M. Kundera, P. Rezek and T. Kulka) and to analyze them further in relation to the central concept of Umberto Eco, which defines kitsch as a communication. According to Eco, kitsch is not to be defined solely by the structural qualities of the work, but also by the intention that the author creates and by the means that the work is later perceived by the audience. The focus of this thesis is to be pointed not on the kitsch as a definition of a certain type of object and its aesthetic evaluation, but rather on the attitudes and interpretations that transform objects and thoughts into kitsch. Another aim of the thesis is to mark a possible shift in conception of kitsch in context of the changes brought by the age of new media - the changes that radically change the ways of communication, and the organization of society, too. Such change proposes the use of kitsch both as an emotional and simplifying approach. Kitsch, in its wider conception, becomes a pervasive and actual phenomenon. New Media and Sport: Repeated Confrontation with Failure on the Example of Ice Hockey Coach Josef Jandac

This thesis deals with the relationship between new media and sport. The main research problem is the repeated confrontation with failure on the example of professional ice hockey coach Josef Jandac. The aim of the presented thesis is to examine how Jandac's media image evolved on selected new media platforms (news websites and social networks). We also want to explore to what extent the content presented by each new media differed and whether confrontation with failure prevailed at certain times. Qualitative content analysis constitutes a means to achieve set goal. Based on the mentioned research method, articles from sport websites and posts from social networks were analyzed. The first group of sources includes the internet portals iSport.cz, Sport.cz and iDNES.cz/Sport. The second group of sources consists of comments by users on the official Facebook page of HC Sparta Prague and posts by Spartan supporters from the SHS fan club discussion forum. The research file contains a total of 132 texts (68 articles and 64 posts). The thesis is organized into theoretical, contextual and analytical section. Facebook as a Digital Archive

The thesis deals with Facebook archives. The topic is treated by a combination of theoretical and practical approaches. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the first chapter provides an introduction to the concepts of archives and the digital form of archives today. In the second chapter, I discuss Laura Millar's theory, which details the nature of archives in terms of its content, institution and place. This is followed by the practical part of the thesis, where in the third chapter I conduct an analysis of Facebook. I conduct two analyses, one from the perspective of the administrators of the network and the other from the perspective of its users. In both analyses I follow the same aspects defined using Laura Millar's theory, I observe Facebook in terms of the content of the archive and as a place for keeping the archive. Due to the double observation, differences emerge in the conception of the network from the perspective of the two aforementioned parties. The results of the analyses are then accompanied by a final fourth theoretical chapter in which I attempt to ground the observed practices in broader theoretical contexts. Aristoxenus of Tarentum - a study on the work Elementa Harmonica

The thesis deals with an Ancient Greek work Elementa Harmonica (Harmonic Elements) written by Aristoxenus of Tarentum and to the same extent with the contexts of the creation of this work. Elementa is primarily a musical-theoretical work, focused mainly on specific parts of which music, and more specifically, melody, consist. There is a huge and thorough description of particular elements including those who tried to deal with the same matter before Aristoxenus himself. Therefore, Elementa are amongst other a very valuable source of collected knowledge concerning both musical theory, methodology and musical practice provided by Aristoxenus' predecessors. However, Elementa have also an interesting methodological approach, combining mathematical (which means basically Pythagorean) and peripathetical (predominantly Aristotelian) attitudes in a unique synthesis leading to an establishment of a brand new position of musical-theoretical research. This thesis shall provide an analysis of the main constituting branches and its further implications. Media representation of George Floyd's death in the discourse of selected Czech online media

The thesis focuses on the representation of the death of the African-American man George Floyd in the media discourse of selected Czech online media. Floyd's death filled the American, Czech and world media and activated the Black Lives Matter movement. The thesis focuses on conservatively oriented media (Echo24.cz, Reflex.cz and Forum24.cz). The research sample will be articles from 29 May to 25 July 2020. Critical discourse analysis according to Norman Fairclough is the methodological background of the work, it also works with several basic types of representation that will be used in the thesis. The theoretical section outlines the social constructivist paradigm in which the thesis is set and introduces in particular the work of Teun van Dijk and research focusing on media representations of minorities. The contextual part introduces the theory of social movements, the portrayal of George Floyd's death in the American and Czech media, and the events that the death triggered in the US (and later in other parts of the world). This Magister thesis examines the camp phenomenon. Despite the wide scope of the term I will try to come up with a universal definition or several basic definitions which will after serve as a base for my following conclusions. The main source of my thesis is an essay Notes On a Camp written by Susan Sontag. This essay I will apply to contemporary (20th and 21st century) popular music in which I will search for camp signs and campy gestures in the work of independent popular and mainstream artists and performers. The main focus area for this thesis will be primarily visual aspect of their work - costumes, videos, appearance, … The line between campy and not campy is very thin and indefinite, that is why I will try to draw it demonstrating camp signs on chosen samples. I would also try to point out that in contemporary popular culture we consume some forms of camp without being aware that it is actually camp what we consume. Fallibilism and Semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce

This thesis consists of the analysis of Peirce's essays Questions Concering Certain Faculties Claimed for Man and Some Consequences of Four Incapacities focused on the genesis of fallibilism and its dependence on the theory of representation. Peirce's epistemological position here is articulated as a rejection of foundationalism and its conditions (e.g. intuition and introspection) that are understood to be unfounded hypotheses due the character of our knowledge of the outside world. The aim of this thesis is to find out how Peirce's epistemology can work without the certainty of foundationalism. Autonomous Social Centre Klinika and Left-wing Activism: Critical Analysis of Media Discourse

The diploma thesis deals with the Autonomous social centre Klinika in the Prague district of Žižkov and the left-wing, mostly anarchist, groups that affiliate with the centre. The thesis studies the current shape and form of media discourse related to the far-left political scene in the Czech Republic. Using the critical discource approach, the thesis analyzes a number of texts from the multimedia company MAFRA (Lidovky.cz, iDnes.cz) and that of alternative left-wing media (A2larm.cz, Denikreferendum.cz). The thesis investigates whether the fact that the publishing house is owned by the anti-politician Andrej Babiš projected in any way in case of the right-wing (centre- right) media. The main finding is, that the scrutinized right-wing media consistently avoid the question of legitimacy of squatting but their approach to squatting and leftist activist scene is not hostile. On the other hand, the scrutinized leftist media emphasize the legitimacy of squatting. The influence of Andrej Babiš was not confirmed.

Photography and its authenticity in the context of the debate about disseminating disinformation in the online environment

The submitted thesis focuses on the photograph and its role in the process of disseminating disinformation in the online environment. The thesis deals with the opinion that, despite the fundamental changes in the understanding of photography and its credibility, which together with the transition from its analogue form to digital one, photography retains the status of an authentic medium. For this reason photography is becoming a very powerful tool for spreading misinformation. The thesis deals with the theoretical basis of objectivity of photography, its documentary value and expectation of authenticity. The role of the context, which is crucial for understanding the photographic message, will be emphasized. The thesis also defines the basic concepts related to the phenomenon of disinformation. The strategies used to spread disinformation via photography is also presented. In the practical part of the thesis particular disinformative photographic messages is analyzed.
