Larval Stages of Flukes (Platyhelmintes: Trematoda) in Secondary School Education
Šulcová, Hana ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Podroužková, Štěpánka (referee)
The parasites are one of the most important factors that shape relationships in the nature. This thesis deals mainly with developmental stages of trematodes (Platyhelmintes: Trematoda), especially the cercariae of so-called Schistosomes and sporocysts of Leucochloridium paradoxum, as well as with and their intermediate host - freshwater snails. Introductory chapters are focused on general introduction into the topic, such as basic terminology or occurrence issue of trematodes (mainly schistosomes) in the world and in the Czech Republic. In order to determine larval stages of flukes and their morphological types, the research was conducted in four Prague localities with known presence of aquatic snails. Only in one site, Kunratická tůň Pond, the constant presence of echinostomous cercariae (and in lesser extent also furcocercariae) in Radix labiata was recorded during summer season of 2015. In small pond in the Botanical Garden of the Natural Sciences Faculty of Charles University and in Modřanské tůně Ponds, xiphidocercarie in Lymnaea stagnalis were found. No cercarie were detected in the pond in the Genetic garden of Charles University. The presence of Leucochloridium paradoxum in the European Amber Snail Succinea putris was confirmed in the vicinity of Modřanské tůně Ponds. The verified...
The impact of herbivores on plant population dynamics: The importance for biological control of invasive plants
Šulcová, Hana ; Dostál, Petr (advisor) ; Kindlmann, Pavel (referee)
Herbivory is one of the most important relations between plants and animals. The herbivores affect plant populations not only by grazing, but also by trampling and disturbing the vegetation. Herbivores have also great potential to affect the population dynamics of particular plant species. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of herbivores on plant population dynamics and to interpret it in relation to biological control of invasive plants. When evaluating the effect of herbivores, it is necessary to keep in mind the fact that herbivores don't affect only plants but also each other through direct as well as indirect competition. The use of different herbivore species to supress the invasive plants may not necessarily be effective. The range of the effect of herbivores on plant population dynamics depends also on the environmental conditions. Habitats with infrequent disturbances and high competition levels among plants increase the effect of biological control, because high competition facilitates competitive exlusion of the target plant species. Different life-histories of plants play are also important in terms of biological control mainly the life-span and the endurance of the seed bank affect the results. Monocarpic species with short-lived seed bank can be relatively easily reduced by...
Analysis of pharmacotherapy in nursing homes

ŠULCOVÁ, Hana: Analysis of pharmacotherapy in nursing homes. [Rigorózní práce]/Hana Šulcová - Charles University in Prague. Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy - Prof. RNDr. Jiří Vlček, CSc., Hradec Králové, 2013. Geriatric patients of these days are typical of their multimorbidity and often concurrently use large amounts of drugs. However, their body reacts to certain drugs or groups of drugs differently than the body of younger ones due to all involutional changes that come with aging process. Polypharmacy and the use of medication that is potentially inappropriate in the elderly are a common cause of adverse drug reactions and put the patient's health at risk. Residents of nursing homes are more susceptible to multi-drug use and potential adverse drug reactions than community-dwelling seniors. This study is cross-sectional analysis of the pharmacotherapy in the nursing homes, focusing on the analysis of potentially inappropriate medications in the elderly (using STOPP criteria) and drug interactions (using databases AISLP and Micromedex). Five questionnaires focusing on the comprehensive geriatric assessment and respondents' awareness of their pharmacotherapy were also a part of the study. The respondents' demographic information and medical data...
Interactions of herbivore funtion gourps and Succisa pratensis
Šulcová, Hana ; Janovský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Roubíčková, Alena (referee)
Herbivory is one of most important factors which form meadow ecosystems. These ecological communities have one of the biggest variety of species in Central Europe and their research is important in terms of management of protected species as well. Localities which has a similar importance, is also a meadow ecosystem with occurrence of Succisa pratensis, the only host plant for rare butterfly Euphydryas aurinia. Research of Succisa and its other herbivores can improve a protection of this particular butterfly. Effects of herbivores of Succisa were examined by several experiments. The first one was a field cage experiment. Its aim was to detect what kinds of herbivores (rodents and invertebrates) are involved in herbivory of leaf rosettes of Succisa and what is their impact on the fitness of these plants. The intensity of herbivory of Succisa was measured for over two vegetation seasons on the month bases. In this experiment were also examined effects of surrounding vegetation on the studied plants of Succisa. The second experiment was performed in a garden. Its aim was to clarify the role of herbivores of leaf rosettes, stalks and their interactions on the fitness of Succisa. The third experiment was concerned to true bugs, which are pre-dispersal predators of seeds of Succisa. Their effects on...

Number of pages: 173 Number of attachments: 5 Year of defence: 2014 Keywords: senior, old age, geriatrics, needs, social care, quality of life, individual approach, individual service planning Abstract: The bachelor thesis is focused on the quality of life of women living in senior homes. The theoretical part describes some of the most important basic notions associated with old age and ageing. It deals with the problems of old age, geriatrics, social care for the elderly and their quality of life. The empirical part examines the quality of life of women living in a nursing home while looking for appropriate interventions to improve the quality. Five female clients from the Home for Senior Citizens in Choceň were selected according to predetermined criteria for the purpose of the research. Other participants of the research were the clients' family members and the Home's key employees. The research used a mixed approach. The qualitative methods included narratives and semi-structured interviews. As regards quantitative methods, the Czech version...

Guarantee Insurance Focused On the Insurance of Recruitment Agencies
Šulcová, Hana ; Ducháčková, Eva (advisor) ; Daňhel, Jaroslav (referee)
Annotation In the thesis for my bachelor's degree titled "Guarantee Insurance Focused On the Insurance of Recruitment Agencies" I deal with insuring recruitment agencies against bankruptcy. The first part describes a general characteristic of guarantee insurance and specific kinds of this insurance product. The second part is aimed at insuring guarantees against travel agencies' bankruptcy, and this part closely specifies problems of the contract type of obligatory insurance being in use in the Czech insurance market. With its own characteristic it most corresponds to recruitment agencies' insurance. The third part is fully concerned with recruitment agencies, and it involves (1) legislative regulations comprised, especially an analysis of the Amendment to Employment Act 435/2004, (2) reasons for introducing the insurance, (3) an account of insurers providing this sort of insurance, and the main passage focused on an analysis of a specific recruitment agency's premium. In the concluding part the thesis presents an account of intended changes concerning recruitment agencies providing jobs to the Employment Act that should be valid from January 2012 on.
