Czech Radio and Its Role in the Support of Czech Alternative Music Scene in the Czech Republic and Abroad

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is evaluating the benefits of support of Czech alternative music scene by Czech Radio with focus on Radio Wave's activities. The theoretical part includes the definition of alternative music scene in Czech background and there is also covered the history of Radio Wave from its beginning to the present. In the following chapter, there are described particular types of Czech Radio's support of the local alternative music projects, taking account of competitions. There are described other forms of the support by media similar by genre. The analytical part includes qualitative analysis of facts extracted from interviews. In conclusion, there is the evaluation of total support of the Czech alternative music scene based on analysis and supplemented by own suggestions and advices for the future development.
Production and publication of a music track in electronic dance music

The bachelor thesis analyses the process of production and publication of a musical composition in the field of electronic dance music. The first part addresses the historical development in nonartificial music, the available marketing, the development and current state of the music industry as well as electronic dance music. The second part of the thesis deals with music production in a home studio, the required budget, the audio editing of the piece, paid and unpaid publication, the interview with electronic dance music producer and offers an analysis of paid propagation of a musical composition. The analysis is developed on the basis of results obtained through the use of paid propagation tools in a specific case study, and measures the overall effectiveness of paid propagation in comparison with non-propagated musical compositions. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze terms of production in electronic dance music, evaluate the effectiveness of paid propagation of musical compositions and to set a recommendation to beginning producers in the field of electronic dance music on the basis of the achieved results and presented calculations.
Comparison of actual methods of management of music ensembles with approaches of music ensembles management in the past

This diploma thesis concerns approaches of management in the area of music ensembles on nowaday Czech music scene. Theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the music market as a whole, actual economical importance of music in the world, roles and tasks of managers and marketing communication. In the practical part of the thesis are introduced three music ensembles which are part of Czech music scene and furthemore one music ensemble that is located in the USA. In the thesis are described main geographical differences between American And Czech ensembles. In order to accomplish this practical part of thesis author used informaition mainly gained from the results of qualitative research which evolved around deeply detailed interviews. Main goal of the thesis is to describe methodology for managing smaller music ensembles mostly in the area of music groups focusing on non mainstream music genres. Author furthemore generelizes processes and approaches regarding the main differences of four music ensembles and their genre unlikeness.
Production of music programs in Czech television with focus on the ČT art channel

The aim of this thesis is to describe the process of development and production of music programs and the position of music within the Czech television broadcast system; the analysis of the viewership development of the newly created ČT art channel and the representation of music programs and their respective genres on this channel. The theoretical part of the thesis defines related terms and clarifies the role of the individual segments in the proces of development and production of the programs. The practical part compares different ways of the production's proces on four specific cases, determines the development of the viewership for each year and charts in detail the musical oriented broadcast windows.
Punk subculture in the Czech environment

Thesis deals with punk subculture involuntarily acting as innovative element of the commercial market. It addresses the question of the essence of punk subculture, and focuses on the question whether the penetration of punk elements into the commercial environment affect the essence of punk. Aim of the thesis is also to find out how punk elements in the environment of mass culture are perceived by young people outside the punk subculture. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts and contexts within a given topic. It also describes the process of punk elements penetration into market environment and its influence within the fashion and music industry. The practical part, which is based on the results of qualitative and quantitative research, respectively research probes, describes the state of the issue in the Czech Republic.
Presentation of Czech culture abroad - export options of Czech alternative music

This Bachelors thesis is focused on exploring options, how to support the export of contemporary Czech alternative music. Author of this thesis is exploring how music export offices are working in abroad and why the export office does not exist in the Czech Republic. The introductory part is devoted to the supporting forms of Czech alternative music from the public sector, the private sector and from the EU funds. It is followed by a description of the current phase of development of Czech music export office and description of current efforts for its establishment. The third passage of theoretical part describes several selected export offices in abroad. The practical part analyzes two selected export offices in abroad and one functional Czech export project. In the end, the author formulates his own suggestions and advices for the emerging Czech export office, based on previous findings and analysis.
Fundraising of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music

Goal of this Bachelor´s Thesis is to summarize current situation of the fundraising of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music. At first we define general term of fundraising and its connection with the commercial sphere, then we look at the possibilities of the financial sources for the music festival. Then we will continue with current situation in the connection with the fundraising, which methods organizations use and we try to find space for development of the fundraising. In this Bachelor´s Thesis will be named benefits for the businessmen, which are related with support of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music. In the next part there will be analysis of the possibility of the crowdfunding, where we ask question about the support with this form of raising money. We will summarize the exploration from the music festival in 2014, what it contained and the results of the exploration.
Promotion and management of club music scenes in selected countries of Central Europe.

The diploma thesis discusses the Czech club music scene in the context of the transformation of the music industry in recent years. The first section describes recent trends in the music market in the world and in the Czech Republic. The second part is devoted to the specifics of the management and promotion of Czech music scene at club level, defines classical models of contracts between artists, managers, record companies and other entities. The following chapter describes the possibilities of the multi-source financing of the club music scene. The next two chapters characterize cultural policies of Austria and Germany with a focus on creative industries and of the club music scene. The last part is devoted to a specific modelated project, an organization focused on music export and promotional activities.
Support of Czech non-mainstream music in the CR and abroad

The bachelor's thesis deals with the current state of the Czech non-mainstream music scene. The first part is focused on describing the situation on the Czech music market in the context of globalization and the music industry development in the world. It deals with the Czech music identity, the status of artists performing on the Czech club scene, organizations dedicated to their support and with the presentation opportunities of Czech non-mainstream artists abroad. The second part of the thesis deals with the possibilities of financing the Czech alternative music with a concrete example of its financing from the state budget of the Czech Republic and an example of multi-source financing and promotion of the festival called Budějovický Majáles, which is focused primarily on alternative music.
