Freemasonry in the Course of the History

Freemasonry in the Course of the History. The present work deals with the historical development and function of the organization of the brotherhood of Freemasons. Based on the available literature, this work tries to summarize especially the mythical aspects of the modern history of the organization after 1717. An emphasis is placed on the development of the English and French Freemasonry, but this work also briefly introduces the reader to the situation in other European countries and in America. Furthermore, the work deals with Masonic symbolism, which is an integral part of the organization and certainly essential to a sufficient understanding of the organization. An important chapter deals with initiation the ceremonies and the rituals that illustrate the general idea of Freemasons. In conclusion, the paper presents an analysis of the relationship between the organization and the Church, in historical context, and the position of women among the Masons.

Several Aspects of the Danish Phase of the Thirty Years' War, PhD dissertation, Charles University in Prague 2014 Summary In Czech and European historiography of the early modern period, the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) is one of the most discussed topics. Among Czech historians, there has always been an understandable emphasis on the revolt of the Bohemian estates, also known as the Bohemian phase of the war (1618- 1621). The Danish phase (1625-1629) is considerably less popular. The winners had already been or - to be more precise - seemed to be almost determined, and the further developments of the war did nothing to change the fate of the Czech lands. Analysis of the second half of the 1620s is therefore dominated by other topics - the recatholisation process, exile waves or the character of Albrecht von Wallenstein. Foreign historiographers also seem to downplay Denmark's influence. It is as if King Christian's unsuccessful attempt to fight the Emperor was only biding everyone's time until the "Lion of the North", Gustav II Adolf of Sweden, makes his great entrance. (česky) Hlavním předmětem diplomové práce je nástin a charakteristika hudebního života a analýzy hudebních aktivit na dvoře Josefa Adama knížete ze Schwarzenbergu s teritoriálním zaměřením na oblast Českého Krumlova v období 2. poloviny 18. století jako příslušníka vyšších vrstev společnosti. Osvíceného knížete s hlubokým zájmem o společenský a umělecký život, štědrého mecenáše umění a především hudebního znalce a vynikajícího organizátora hudebního programu na svých panstvích. Jedním z úkolů je rovněž zachytit drobný příspěvek do problematiky studia šlechtické hudební kultury (období baroka a klasicismu) a socioekonomického okruhu s touto kulturou související či vzájemně se ovlivňující na konkrétním příkladě schwarzenberského dvora v souboru označovaném jako dechová harmonie. Společně s vývojem souboru dechové harmonie dojde ke stručné charakteristice divadelních aktivit a schwarzenberské hudební sbírky, úzce provázaných s hudebním provozem na dvoře Josefa Adama knížete ze Schwarzenbergu. Courier Service in Dvůr Králové n. L. in the Early Modern Period

This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of oral and written communication through the groups of couriers, who mediated between smaller royal dowry town Dvůr Králové nad Labem and its own villages as well as another distant locations situated in another dominion. Diploma thesis applies to region called Podkrkonoší in the advanced Early Modern Period, describes and analyses some of the preserved archival primary sources of knowledge dedicated to the courier services in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. It mentions the enviroment in which the gateke- epers and other couriers fulfilled their services. This thesis attempts to define the relationship between the distance and courier's income in Dvůr Králové nad Labem's domain and outside of it. In the context of diverse contents of oral and written messages the thesis mentions sever- al other topics, for example the actual filling work of corvée (or statute labour), showing by gatekeepers the way to hussar-soldier at surveying, transport of beggars and vagabonds and even the beginning of postal services in this area. Working method is based on detailed archival probe into rarely preserved municipal bookkeeping, especially into records of gate- keeper's courier services and records of other settled couriers both from the year 1740 and 1768. World from the point of view of the citizen in Early Modern Age

This diploma thesis covers the individual citizens' perception of suburban events in order to discuss the point of view of the early modern Czech citizen and their ability to gain information of the world around through the analysis of such suburban events that were registered in the chosen chronicles, originating between the years 1575-1600, a period that is considered "a golden age of the Czech cities". First, the background of the chroniclers is outlined, because it might have influenced the choice of events they decided to include in their works, i.e. the position of the concrete city, the level of education in the said period or the author's personal life. Second, the general knowledge of the authors is described in the thesis through the means of analysis of the type of recorded information (e.g. Turkish wars, the deaths of famous persons, wildfires, councils and the like). In other words, the thesis is to point out what type of information was considered to be the most interesting or extraordinary to the wider public, and which circles were usually covered by the chroniclers. The Zoning of Rozmberk's Water Mills on Třeboň estate after 1590: Myth or Fact?

At the end of 16th century an unique document had been preparing on the Rozmberk's estates. The Description of Mills from the year 1590 registers all Rozmberk's water mills in the south part of Bohemia. Thanks to this Description Jaroslav Honc published in 1959 an article that dealt with the concept of zoning of Rozmberk's milling in 1590. The main goal of the master's thesis is presentation of this very interesting source and comparison reformative Rozmberk's officers' ideas with the fact emerged from the study of accounting books of Třeboň estate between years 1550 and 1615.

The History of Bukovec to the Late 17th Century

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the history of the village of Bukovec near Horšovský Týn, beginning with the ancient history to the late 17th century. The ancient village of Bukovec is one of the oldest villages in the area. Its dominant is in core the late Romanesque church of the Assumption from the late 12th century. Moreover the village became a feudal manor in the 12th century, which is evidenced by the predicate "of Bukovec". However, the center of the manor was transferred to the neighboring village of Čečovice in the middle of the 14th century and Bukovec became the center of the parish. Presented is also the history of the village during the Hussite wars and during the Post-Hussite time. In 1546 Bukovec became a part of the Lobkowicz dominion in Horšovský Týn. The first capture of the social and economical situation in the village is the urbary from 1587, which will also be analyzed in the thesis. Other sources of information about the social history of the village come from as late as the period after the Thirty Years` War. Countess Serényi and the Town Blatná

COUNTESS SERENI AND THE TOWN OF BLATNA The thesis is not only a contribution to the regional history of Blatná nad Blatná district, but also a probe to the life of a baroque noble marital pair. The first part of the study (the 1st and 2nd chapters) takes heed of the research survey up to now, mainly of the personality of J.P.Hill, and the summary of sources. The reader is also acquainted with the life milestone of Marie Alžběty (Mary Elizabeth), countess Sereni, née Waldstein (1698 - 1787), and her husband, count Josef (Joseph) Sereni. The Blatná demesne was under their rule in the period of 1709 to 1787 (part 3.1). Part 3.2 deals with the official career of count Josef Sereni. Chapters 4 and 5 present an insight to the everyday life of barogue nobility, mainly through the medium of preserved accounts of the count household; the author deals with the question of banqueting, their residences, domestic stuff and wardrobe, primarily taking account of noble self-presentation. Its specific form - the problems of family legends - is analysed in chapter 6. Cheb's trade in 16. century

City of Cheb, lying on crossroad of old trade roads, gains by favor of czcech kings and roman emperors many privileges supports trade activity. Sixteenth century was period of trade prosperity of this region: silver was discovered in Joachimsthal and some new deposits of tin. Prosperous mining areas are source of prosperity even for near and farther neighbourhoods, and on main route from western Europe lies Cheb. Assumed prosperity of trade shoud make impact on prosperity of city inhabitants, even city as a whole. Goal of this work is to analyze city income books (Umgeldbücher) and qualify and quantify income from trade and proportion of this income in whole city income.
