COUNTESS SERENI AND THE TOWN OF BLATNA The thesis is not only a contribution to the regional history of Blatná nad Blatná district, but also a probe to the life of a baroque noble marital pair. The first part of the study (the 1st and 2nd chapters) takes heed of the research survey up to now, mainly of the personality of J.P.Hill, and the summary of sources. The reader is also acquainted with the life milestone of Marie Alžběty (Mary Elizabeth), countess Sereni, née Waldstein (1698 - 1787), and her husband, count Josef (Joseph) Sereni. The Blatná demesne was under their rule in the period of 1709 to 1787 (part 3.1). Part 3.2 deals with the official career of count Josef Sereni. Chapters 4 and 5 present an insight to the everyday life of barogue nobility, mainly through the medium of preserved accounts of the count household; the author deals with the question of banqueting, their residences, domestic stuff and wardrobe, primarily taking account of noble self-presentation. Its specific form - the problems of family legends - is analysed in chapter 6. Michal Pohunek: Dějiny kláštera Na Slovanech za husitství v letech 1419 - 1442 Abstract History of the Slavonic Monastery in the Hussite Period between 1419 - 1442 This thesis describes the history of the Slavonic monastery, situated in Nové Město in Prague, and later also known as Emaus. My thesis concerns the period of the Hussite revolt between 1419-1442. At that period Holy Communion in the Slavonic monastery was offered to lay people in the utraquist mode - i.e., both bread and wine - and the monastic community became a part of the Hussite movement. The goals of this thesis are primarily theological, in line with the discipline of church history. First I want to contribute to the understanding of the spiritual and religious atmosphere in the whole of the Czech kingdom of that historical period, by describing its particular history in the Slavonic monastery. Second I would like to contribute to the comprehension of the possibility of Benedictine monastic life in the context of the Hussite movement and the influence of the utraquist monastery on the religious evolution of the time. The knights Kaplíř of Sulevice on the treshold of the early modern age

This thesis focuses on the history of the the family of knights Kaplíř of Sulevice. It covers a period from the first reference to this family before the half of the 14th century until the death of the last male member in the lineage at the beginning of the 18th century. The family Kaplíř of Sulevice belongs among significant members of the estate of Czech knights. In the course of the 14th and at the beginning of the 15th century the members of the family built up their property structure and that time there were 5 descents formed: descent of Sulevice, descent of Ostrý, descent of Solany, descent of Skalka-Řehlovice and descent of Vimperk. Thanks to the Hussite period the knights of Sulevice, the men of great enterprise, succeeded in penetrating more significantly even beyond boundaries of their own estates. The half of the 15th century was marked with certain stagnation (except the descent of Vimperk) which, on the contrary, was in their prime.

Credit policy of Maxmilian II. (1564-1576) with special view to Bohemia

The Credit Policy of Maximilian II. (1564 - 1576) with special view to Bohemia is an overlooked theme. A1so whole personality of the emperor is in the shadow ofhis more known relations, the father Ferdinand 1. and the son Rudolf II. A last work, which was specialized in an economic and a credit policy, is over sixty years oldo Therefore I have to use foreign studie s, which are linked with the intemational project named A Financial and Economic Policy of the first Habsburgs. I have chosen this theme, because I had written a study about the king's credit policy in 1574 and 1575 in 2005. This study is divided into five parts, An Introduction, The Survey of Sources and Literatures, The Financial and Economic Policy, The Campaign in 1566, Eliška z Landštejna na Tuchorazi and Magdalena z Brodějovic as Examples of Creditors. The first expert chapter is The Financial and Economic Policy. In this issue I would like to introduce an administration of Maximilian' s revenues and expenses. I have given consideration to offices and officers, chamber' s possessions, credits, fiscal systems in the second part of the XVI.th century, a phenomenon of loan. Thirty Years War and development of the countryside social structure on the manor of Brandýs nad Labem in 16th-18th century

Výzkum venkovské společnosti v období raného novověku náleží již více než jedno století k frekventovaným tématům českého dějepisectví a v jeho vývoji lze vymezit několik etap. Nelze se přitom omezovat jen na nástin proměn heuristické základny, interpretačních modelů a metodické výbavy agrárních dějepisců, ale ve stejné míře je třeba věnovat pozornost také širšímu sociokulturnímu rámci, v němž historická věda a její představitelé ve své době působili, a který více či méně předurčoval tematickou skladbu výzkumu i způsoby konstruování jeho výsledkú. Pevné zakotvení historiografie v dobových společenských procesech se již od první fáze soustavného zájmu o agrární problematiku projevovalo v periodizaci a konceptualizaci jejího výkladu, který, ať už souhlasně či polemicky, navazoval na dualistickou dějinnou koncepci Františka Palackého, a byl tak od počátku svázán s procesem politické emancipace českého národa a jeho ideovou legitimizací. 1 Výsledkem bylo, že se ústředním tématem či alespoň pozadím takřka všech diskusí stala otázka degradace sociální pozice venkovského obyvatelstva, příčin tohoto jevu, jeho časového prúběhu a obsahové náplně. Courier Service in Dvůr Králové n. L. in the Early Modern Period

This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of oral and written communication through the groups of couriers, who mediated between smaller royal dowry town Dvůr Králové nad Labem and its own villages as well as another distant locations situated in another dominion. Diploma thesis applies to region called Podkrkonoší in the advanced Early Modern Period, describes and analyses some of the preserved archival primary sources of knowledge dedicated to the courier services in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. It mentions the enviroment in which the gateke- epers and other couriers fulfilled their services. This thesis attempts to define the relationship between the distance and courier's income in Dvůr Králové nad Labem's domain and outside of it. In the context of diverse contents of oral and written messages the thesis mentions sever- al other topics, for example the actual filling work of corvée (or statute labour), showing by gatekeepers the way to hussar-soldier at surveying, transport of beggars and vagabonds and even the beginning of postal services in this area. Working method is based on detailed archival probe into rarely preserved municipal bookkeeping, especially into records of gate- keeper's courier services and records of other settled couriers both from the year 1740 and 1768. The catholic church and the religion in region of Mladá Boleslav in the second half of 17th and the first third of 13th century. Selected issues of church administration history and recatholization

This thesis follows up the relationship among church administration level, recatholization and gradual penetration of the baroque religion into the common life in the region of Mlada Boleslav in the second half of 17th and the first third of 18th century. This ratio is followed up on the basis of selected issues that are for these topics determining. In the first sections is described the gradual improving of the three vicariates' parish administration of the region from the point of view of parishes number rising and the improvement of the pastors' work conditions connected with it. The basic indicators are: number of parishes, their disprict (number of churches belonging to parishes, number of villages, distances) as well as the number of inhabitants. The developement and the way of economic assurance of parishes and their facilities (equipment and incomes of churches) are outlined here as well. This summary is completed by the characteristics of basic relationships in everyday life of parish related to these issues. Testaments in Jihlava during years 1578-1590. (History of family and household, historic demography and sociotopography)

Studium testamentů začíná mít v posledním desetiletí mnoho příznivců z řad naší odborné veřejnosti. Ne neprávem. Postupem času se ukazuje, že dochované, leckde téměř nepřetržité řady testamentů z různých měst českých zemí v sobě skrývají další a další netušené informace pro pochopení života měst i jejich obyvatel ve své každodenní realitě. Zároveň JSou vedeny kriticky zaměřené diskuse o metodologických otázkách, spjatých s takovým studiem. Příkladem mohou být i četné příspěvky a podněty, které zazněly na první konferenci věnované speciálně tomuto problému, která se konala v HÚ AV ČR 30. listopadu 2005 pod názvem "Pozdně středověké testamenty v českých městech". Tato problematika se stala i předmětem mé diplomové práce. Na jejím začátku stálo překvapivé zjištění, v jakém množství a zároveň neuvěřitelně celistvé podobě jsou zachovány testamentární zápisy přesahující několik staletí, jež jsou uchovávány ve Státním okresním archivu v Jihlavě. Tato práce si nemůže klást za cíl zhodnocení dané problematiky ve své celistvosti a úplnosti, ani pro podmínky v kontextu místně a časově vymezených limitů tématu, tedy Jihlavy v letech 1578-1590. The land and duties registers of Osek of the 17th century

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se zaměril na vesničany v klášterních vsích oseckého kláštera, ovšem pouze v těch, které se nacházely v bezprostředním okolí tohoto kláštera. Původně mělo být těchto vsí 13, nakonec jsem se věnoval ale pouze jedenácti vsím. Zabýval jsem se jednotlivými vesničany vyskytujícími se v těchto vsích v jednotlivých letech, k čemuž jsem použil hojného počtu tabulek, jimiž se prokousat nebylo jistě jednoduché. Nicméně byla to činnost velmi potřebná, protože jen na základě údajů z těchto tabulek o počtu vesničanů v jednotlivých obcích oseckého kláštera, jsem mohl přikročit k dalšímu kroku, jímž bylo rozdělení těchto lidí na "domácí" a "cizince" a vyjádřit následně míru jejich zastoupení na skladbě obyvatelstva jednotlivých obcí procentuálně. Současně jsem také uváděl historii jedné každé zkoumané vsi a tím mi samozřejmě vznikal určitý víceméně realitě doby odpovídající obraz. Právě do tohoto obrazu jsem posléze vnesl fakta zjištěná rozborem z tabulek věnovaných jednotlivým vsím, přičemž ovšem fakta zjištěná z těchto tabulek prokázala větší úbytek obyvatelstva pouze v Hrobu, zde nepochybně v důsledku emigrace, a ve Verneřicích. Aby však má práce pro danou oblast byla skutečně pravdivou věnoval jsem se též fenoménu míry migrace a jejímu zastoupení na skladbě vesnického (v případě Hrobu...

Lesser nobility in the region of Kostelec nad Černými lesy in the era of early modern period

This study should help to recognize the social and economic conditions of life of the lesser nobility in Bohemian Kingdom in the era 1500-1728(1739) shown on the example of lesser nobility in historical region of Kostelec nad Černými lesy near Prague. The common developmental trends, problems and first of all reasons of the dying out of this social group were observed there. Those conclusions were compared with analogical researches from other Bohemian regions. Herewith in present Czech historiography there are very few studies about the pauperisation of bohemian nobility in the late 17th and first of all in 18th century. Finally this study surveys local history of the named region and the micro-historical relationships of the environment of typical aristocratic dominion and its officers. Our observed lesser nobility could be divided into two quality levels - the clerical nobility and the landed nobility.
