Geoinformation system for the visually handicapped

Diploma thesis named "Geoinformation system for the visually handicapped" deals with design and creation geoinformation system that should serve to visually handicapped people with planing the most appropriate route and their movement in a city. First part of thesis is a brief summary of who are visually handicapped people, their needs, abilities and principles of movement. Further are described barrier-free adaptations for visually handicapped people and existing solutions. Practical output is the design of an algorithm for automatically locating and evaluating critical locations based on OpenStreetMaps solution. Particularities and progression of the Fine Arts Expression of Visually Impaired Children in a Kindergarten

This bachelor's thesis is focused on children's art expression and its development amongst children with visual impairment. The theoretical part of this work is pointed to the detail characterization of children's drawing and describes in detail the key problems of visual impairment focusing on pre-school children. The author observes five children with different types of visual impairment in practical part of this paper and traces individual signs evolving in these children's drawing.
The meaning and realization of hippotherapy and horseback riding on the visually impaired people

The bachelor thesis is focused on the importance and execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. Hippotherapy is one of therapeutic and formative methods used in the field of special education. Hippotherapy is aimed at positively influencing movement habits and muscle dysfunctions, experiencing, behaviour and the overall socialization process of individuals with special needs using horses. Visual impairments limit people, in particular, in their access to information and self-reliant mobility. Hippotherapy and horse riding may positively contribute to development of skills that compensate the above described limits, thus improving their personal development and quality of life. The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to carry out qualitative analysis based on existing knowledge in the design of a case study describing the importance and specifics of execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. In order to achieve the formulated objective, data were collected by means of analysis of documents, in-depth interviews and observations. The way of sampling was intended in line with the method chosen. The sample was represented by a visually impaired person engaged in para-equestrianism, namely para-equestrian dressage at international level. A partial objective, formulated in line with the main objective, is to compile an overview of recommended measures relating to safe execution of hippotherapy or horse riding by people with visual impairment. The qualitative research indicated that hippotherapy and horse riding is of particular importance to visually impaired people in the area of self-reliant mobility and socialization process, thus positively influencing the individual's overall development and psyche. The thesis describes the specifics of execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. The comprehensive overviewof the matter may be used by people with visual impairment or institutions interested in hippotherapy and horse riding for visually impaired people.
Utilization of ICT technologies in realization of spatial orientation and independent movement of people with visual impairment

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to present the current state of usage of ICT technologies in the spatial orientation of people with visual disability in the theoretical level and on this basis to perform a qualitative survey focused on the advantage of the use of current applications for minimizing the limits in the area of independent movement of individuals with visual disability. In addition, the thesis focuses on the current offer of compensatory aids with ICT technology in the context of reducing the limits of independent movement of people with visual impairment and their contribution to their quality of life. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part presents the current offer of ICT-based compensatory aids within the spatial orientation and independent movement of persons with visual impairment. In the practical part, the work is focused on mobile phone applications, which help people with visual impairment for better orientation and movements in space. The research was conducted through an structured, semi-structured interview technique. The interview was performed with two men who have visual impairment, and these applications helped them with their spatial orientation and individual movement. A qualitative survey suggests that mobile phone applications for the visually impaired people focusing on orientation and movement in space are very useful and can help them very well to improve their quality of life.
Practical life skills functioning as a tool of a social integration of adults with visual impairment

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to practical life skill as a medium of social integration of visually impaired adults. The purpose of the thesis is a process of teoretical basis of a designated topic and a comparation of selected Czech and Austrian curricular documents which are focused on educational content of practical life skills. The part-purpose was to add qualitative data to the comparison which analyse a meaning of practical life skills for a socialization process of visually impaired people in a qualitative design of a narrative biography. Concerning the purposes mentioned above two questions were determined: 1. Do particular subjects that mediate the practice of practical life skills exist in syllabus of curricular documents of Czech republic and Austria? 2. What are the differences of syllabus of selected curricular documents of Czech republic and Austria in connection with use of methods of practical life skills? The thesis is divided to theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part has four main chapters. The first one is focused on definiton of fundamental terms, aetiology of visual defects and its clasification and compensatory options. The second chapter is about visually impaired people. The third chapter describes practical life skills and its options and the fourth chapter is determined to a social integration. In the practical part of the thesis there are characterized the purposes and research questions, methods and technique of collection of the data. The collection of the qualitative data was used to fulfill the purposes of the thesis, in this case comparative analysis of documents and narrative dialogue. Content and operationalisation of this area is described in detail in the practical part.
Terezie Hradilková - personality of socially-charitable live of 20th century

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to introduce the personal and working life of Mrs. Terezie Hradilkova, the founder of the early care. This work had been divided into four parts. The first one dealt with handicapped disability, the next part described the visually impaired and it was followed by characterization of the early care. The life story of Terezie Hradilkova had been paid attention in the last part of this thesis and it gave the detailed sight on her roots, social work, family life and also on her personal emocion and life experiences. The major benefit of this work could be seen in the life description of a person, who had stood in the beginning of the social work for handicapped children and their families and who has not been really known among Czech population.
Examination of the visual perception in children with visual impairment through an assessment procedure, called In-Sight

This thesis focuses on the problematics of examination of visual perception in children with visual impairment. There are three parts to this thesis. The first part is dedicated to visual perception. It starts by describing the physiological development of eyesight and the examinations of it in childhood. It is followed by a description of visual functions and functional vision assessment. It also deals with individual parts of visual perception and the support of their development. The second part describes the In-Sight test in detail, including the instructions to its use. The third part introduces the research: the diagnostics of visual perception in children with sight impairment through In-Sight test. Its core method is a foreign standardised In-Sight test. This test is used to evaluate visual operations in children with visual impairment and to perform a screening of theirs higher visual abilities in relation to the process of education. The aim of this thesis is to describe the usefulness of this test in this target group. The research also attempted to find new ways to use the test. Acceptance of visual impairment in working age with an emphasis on resilient resources

The bachelor thesis on acceptance of visual impairment in the productive age with an emphasis on resilient source is based on the analysis of two existing studies, which dedicate to topics not so well known among academicals, which are resilience and trustfulness of visual disabled people. The theoretical part deals with the psychosocial impacts of the loss of vision at various stages of human life, it deals with the most frequent causes of visual impairment and phases, through the person with disabilities passes, and with a resilience which is not yet sufficiently described in the Czech literature. In the research section, there are two studies dealing with the topic of psychological resilience and trust. The aim of the thesis is to analyse and interpret the questionnaires to find resilient resources and to demonstrate the use of these scales and similar them in the studies mentioned above. When assessing the results of the two studies, can be a tough visually impaired individual able to adapt to the changes in his or her life best when he is an adult educated man with congenital blindness who belongs to the middle class, and he also belongs to individuals with greater trust in people in his surroundings.
