Implementation of a Social Housing Project within the Organisation

The diploma thesis focuses on the innovative project, the Real Estate Office for Social Housing, and its implementation in a specific organization. The project is one of the possibilities of solving homelessness, so in the first part I look at this issue from the perspective of the social and housing sector, which is most linked to the project, as well as from a historical and legislative perspective. Then I concentrate on the specific type of support for people in housing need, which the project falls under. The aim of the thesis is to describe the process of implementation, or rather its sub-parts, of the Real Estate Office for Social Housing, and to explain its risks using the organisation theory and the theory of Street-Level Bureaucracy. In the research I have used a qualitative methodology, specifically a design of a case study research. Environmental populism in Slovakia

The aim of this thesis is to identify the characteristics of environmental populism in Slovakia, which has been promoted by right-wing parties, labelled as populist, and which has been promoted in relation to the issues of nature conservation and the climate crisis in speeches in the National Council of the Slovak Republic on a specific bill amending Act No. 543/2002 Coll. on the Protection of Nature and the Countryside, the so-called reform of national parks. The theoretical part identifies the status and challenges of nature conservation in Slovakia, the attitudes of experts and the general public, as well as the proposed reform of national parks. The theoretical framework of the thesis includes the definition of populism and environmental populism and other phenomena associated with populism. The empirical part consists of an analysis using two methods - qualitative critical discourse analysis and quantitative method of holistic grading of 161 speeches of actors who were elected to the Parliament in 2020 on the electoral lists of Kotlebovci - Ľudová strana Naše Slovensko (Kotlebovi - the People's Party Our Slovakia) and We are Family (Sme rodina). Housing situation of young families with children in Prague from the perspective of the welfare state theory and the life-cycle perspective

The diploma thesis focuses on the housing situation of young families with children in the context of the housing crisis in Prague. The main aim of the thesis is to describe and understand the housing situation of young families in detail and at the same time to explain the situation and their behaviour from the perspective of the welfare state theory and from a life-cycle perspective. The thesis is interested in the history of the housing situation of families and the broader context of the problem - family and housing policy and the transformation of the family at the beginning of the 21st century, the threats to families and the new social risks. Based on a structured analysis of individual interviews with nine young parents, it seeks answers to the questions of whether families are finding affordable housing, what problems they face, and how social policy is responding to their situation. It presents options for measures to improve the housing situation of families, using examples from abroad and the Czech Republic. It gives voice to young families with children who are under- represented in today's debate on unaffordable housing in an urbanised world.

(Un)successful Million Moments?

This bachelor thesis deals with the rise and evolution of Milion movements for democracy movement which focuses its activities on cultivation of civic society and protection of democracy. The specific, which will be the main point of this text, is the success factor of this movement. On this concrete part of social movements the work will look through the use of framing theory, which allows us to analyze an interpretation of reality. With the help of framing theory and scholarly work in the area of social movements and their success, the analytical part will try to find out how Milion movements have framed their own success. After that, it will move on to analyzing the factor of framing dynamics of success. This aspect of framing allows social movement to react to the framing of their opponent, whose framing activities are conducted with the motivation to change the complete view on movement activities and potential success. The thesis will analyze framing dynamics between Milion moments for democracy and the prime minister at the time, Andrej Babiš as a main target of criticism from the movement.

Legitimation of regional airports in the Czech Republic - case study of Pardubice Airport

This thesis focuses on Czech regional airports and its problematics in relations to public finances. Despite the small country which Czech Republic is, regional airports are common in our regional cities. Mostly are these airports operated by regions and managed by their councils. That means financing from public budgets. First part of my thesis confirms that running these big infrastructure projects is very expensive. Moreover, none of them is profitable. And it is not caused by passing Covid pandemic in the last years. Regional airports are long term loss-making projects. The analytical part discusses about one case study of Pardubice Airport located in the east of Bohemia. Research evaluates a new project of Jan Kašpar Terminal in relation to its legitimacy. But the question is, how to observe legitimacy of public projects? This thesis builds the research on three dimensions of legitimacy inspired by analysis of authors Witz et al. These dimensions are majority, morality and thrust. Outputs are based on content and media analysis. The output is undefended legitimacy as a whole and the project remains questionable, especially because of missing strategy of development, hidden political controversies or inaccurate study which was used for public political decision-making.

Factors influencing life satisfaction, the GDP indicator in relation to happiness and life satisfaction

The main topic of the master thesis is the relationship between life satisfaction and the GDP indicator. Factors that influence life satisfaction are the subject of my research. The master thesis is based on two scientific studies that deal with the relationship between life satisfaction and the GDP indicator. The conclusions of these two studies contradict each other. The first study was published in 1974 by Richard Easterlin. According to Easterlin's paradox, the people's happiness in a given country does not increase with increasing GDP in the long run. When people reach a certain level of wealth and material well-being, their subjective happiness and overall life satisfaction do not grow anymore. The second scientific study was published in 2008 by Stevenson and Wolfers. The authors concluded that there is a positive correlation between life satisfaction and increasing GDP per capita in many countries. This master's thesis aimed to find out what could be the reason behind this contradiction. Moreover, the master's thesis aimed to identify factors influencing life satisfaction. Analysis of the effectiveness of the instrument of agricultural land protection I. and II. protection class

Land is the most valuable natural resource, it is a natural part of the national wealth of every country and it is necessary to protect it not only for the present, but especially for the future. One of the major problems that the soil is currently facing is the increase in built-up areas. In my diploma thesis I try to show how agricultural land protection works in the Czech Republic in practice, with emphasis on the soil in I. and II. protection class. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the grounding of agricultural soil protection in legislation and theory and presents examples of good practices of soil protection abroad. In the practical part, the thesis`s topic and defined issues are verified in practice. A qualitative method is used for that, in particular an in-depth analysis of semi- structured interviews with participants from the public sector.
