Technological unemployment
Miňovský, Michael ; Vlček, Josef (advisor) ; Lupač, Petr (referee)
(in English): Will robotisation lead to unemployment? What will be the society-wide impact of automation? Will it affect the economy? And what is the general macroeconomic and microeconomic context of such developments? These and many other questions are asked throughout this thesis. On the next 70 or so pages, a detailed overview of changes connected with robotics revolution is provided, while the primary topic is the issue of technological unemployment. Based on the study of historical evidence, there is a proposition pronounced on a qualitative difference between current technology and earlier technological milestones consisting in the ability of the machines to substitute not only routine manual work but the non-routine cognitive tasks as well. This hypothesis is then being developed and analysed through a more detailed examination of the fundamental differences of robotics and the current technological foundation of industry and services. The method employed is a critical analysis of other authors' works, thanks to which it was possible to present impressive results such as the list of probabilities of automating a wide spectrum of jobs in the course of the next few decades based on an extrapolation of the current level of progress in machine learning and data mining. In the end, a synthesis...

Men and their lifeworld in beer advertisements
Svobodová, Lucie ; Lupač, Petr (advisor) ; Vinopal, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the widely discussed topic of gender stereotypes. Most of the attention of experts and also the general public in this area is focused on the issues of stereotypes associated with women's roles. This work attempts to inspect the other - the men's - side of gender stereotypes. The aim is to reconstruct the male stereotypes and their lifeworld in commercials which from this perspective focus on perhaps still typically masculine product: beer. The presence of traditional stereotypes of male and female roles is observed at the same time. The research problem is solved through a content analysis of beer advertisements and reconstruction of the lifeworld of men in them.

Matoušek, Vojtěch ; Lupač, Petr (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
(in English): This thesis studies political pundits in the US who utilise YouTube as their main channel of communication. In particular, it studies a possible impact which political pundits in the non-traditional media might have in polarising the public and this in comparison with political pundits in the traditional media. The goal of this thesis is to better understand what makes the YouTube based political pundits different from their traditional news counterparts and which underlying messages we can find in their news reporting. The work uses the theoretical background of the echo chamber theory to utilise the content analysis methods in three major steps. First, categories are being established for predetermined dimensions using an exploratory content analysis of the biggest three traditional news outlets in the US. Using the established dimensions and categories, a quantitative content analysis is conducted on seven chosen non-tradition news outlets based exclusively on YouTube. To further explore the way by means of which these outlets present their messages, a qualitative content analysis is done on selected stories. It has been found that non-traditional media outlets are in general more inclined to talk about policy than traditional news outlets. It also has been found that YouTube based...
