Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dopady japonského útoku na Pearl Harbor na japonské Američany žijící v USA v období druhé světové války. Cílem práce je analyzovat jednotlivé aspekty, které po útoku na Pearl Harbor vedly až k plošné internaci japonských Američanů. K dosažení tohoto cíle je v úvodní části práce stručně zmíněn historický kontext americko- japonských vztahů, následuje analýza veřejného mínění americké společnosti vůči japonským Američanům a otázce jejich internace. Dále je v práci rozebráno Výkonné nařízení 9066 a s ním spojené procesy vedoucí k relokaci do internačních táborů. V druhé polovině práce jsou analyzovány výjimky z internace v podobě japonských Američanů žijících na Havaji a jejich službě v armádě. Pro lepší pochopení dopadů Pearl Harboru na japonské Američany jsou tyto dopady v poslední kapitole práce komparovány s dopady na německé Američany, kteří byli v kontextu druhé světové války i v kontextu veřejné diskuze v USA druhou nejvíce signifikantní skupinou přistěhovalců. This bachelor's thesis deals with the impacts of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Japanese Americans living in the United States during World War II. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the individual aspects that led to the widespread internment of Japanese Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor. To achieve this goal, the historical context of American-Japanese relations is briefly mentioned in the introductory part of the thesis, followed by an analysis of the public opinion of American society towards Japanese Americans and the issue of their internment. The thesis also discusses Executive Order 9066 and related processes leading to relocation to internment camps. In the second half of the thesis, exceptions to internment in the form of Japanese Americans living in Hawaii and their service in the U.S. Army are analyzed. For a better understanding of the effects of Pearl Harbor on Japanese Americans, these effects are compared in the last chapter of the thesis with the effects on German Americans, who were the second most significant group of immigrants in the context of the Second World War and in the context of public discussion in the U.S.
