Předkládaná bakalářská práce se věnuje dějinám a vzniku pomníku Jana Žižky na Vítkově. Analýza a interpretace pramenů se týká hlavně období v letech 1932-1938. Práce je rozdělena do osmi kapitol. První z nich představuje literaturu a prameny využitelné k danému tématu. Další dvě kapitoly pojednávají o plánech postavení Žižkovy sochy, činnosti Spolku pro zbudování pomníku Jana Žižky na vrchu Žižkově a o soutěžích o návrh podoby pomníku. Další kapitola pak objasňuje zadání práce na soše Bohumilu Kafkovi. Hlavní téma práce však tvoří studium, přípravy a sochařská práce autora sochy Bohumila Kafky a spor o pojetí pomníku a průběh příprav až do dokončení a odhalení sochy. Zvláštní kapitola Další pomníky Jana Žižky umožňuje porovnání vzniku jiných Žižkových soch v Čechách. Čtenář může do dění proniknout i díky edici a obrazové příloze. The presented bachelor thesis is devoted to the history and formation of the monument of John Zizka on the Vítkov hill. The analysis and interpretation of sources mainly concern the period of years 1932-1938. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. The first of them introduces appropriate literature and sources for the stated topic. The next two chapters deal with intentions of building a statue of John Zizka, the activity of the Society for building the monument of John Zizka on Zizkov hill, and with competitions for the design of the monument. The following chapter explains the assignment of work on the statue to Bohumil Kafka. The main themes of this thesis are studies, preparations, and sculptural work of the author of statue Bohumil Kafka, disputes over the conception of the monument and completion, and the uncovering of the statue. The special chapter called Other monuments of John Zizka enables a comparison with other established statues of John Zizka in Bohemia. The reader can fully grasp the events thanks to a publication of selected sources and a pictorial supplement.
