Vztahy mezi Evropskou unií a Tureckem provází již několik desetiletí komplikovaný přístupový proces s cílem integrace Turecka do EU. Vývoj tohoto procesu ovlivňují jak vnitřní faktory na obou stranách, tak vnější okolnosti. Od roku 2011 se kvůli krizi na Blízkém východě začalo Turecko potýkat s narůstajícím počtem příchozích migrantů, jichž nejvíce přicházelo mezi roky 2013 až 2015. V létě 2015 vlna migrantů zasáhla také EU. Tato práce se zabývá vlivem jedné z nejsilnějších migračních vln od konce 2. světové války na vzájemné vztahy EU a Turecka. Nejprve je analyzována migrační krize včetně jejích dopadů na EU a Turecko, zkoumána je jejich individuální reakce na krizi, aby se následně výzkum zaměřil na spolupráci obou aktérů od podzimu 2015 do jara 2016. Práce tak odhaluje, že vliv migrační krize na EU i Turecko byl natolik velký, že se ani jedna strana nebyla schopna s obtížnou situací vypořádat samostatně, a i díky charakteru migrační vlny se otevřelo jedinečné okno příležitosti pro oživení vzájemných vztahů. K tomuto oživení opravdu došlo v říjnu 2015 a až do uzavření migrační dohody v březnu 2016 lze na spolupráci EU a Turecka pohlížet jako na efektivní, pozitivní a oboustranně prospěšnou spolupráci, alespoň v kontextu migrační krize. The EU-Turkey relations have been accompanied by the complicated accession process with the aim of integrating Turkey into the EU for several decades. The development of this process has been influenced by internal factors at both sides, as well as by external circumstances. Since 2011, due to the Middle East crisis, Turkey has begun to struggle with a growing number of arriving migrants with a major influx between 2013 and 2015. The wave of incoming migrants hit also the EU in the summer of 2015. This paper examines the impact of one of the strongest migration waves since World War II on the EU-Turkey relations. First is analyzed the migration crisis including its consequences for the EU and Turkey. Second is analyzed, how they responded to the crisis individually so that the research could focus on the cooperation of both sides from autumn 2015 to spring 2016. The paper discovers that the impacts of the migration crisis on the EU and Turkey were so significant that neither side was able to handle the difficult situation on its own. Thus, because of the characteristics of the migration wave, a unique window of opportunity opened for revival of the mutual relations.
