Móda jakožto fenomén je spjata s lidskou společností odjakživa. Ve své práci zkoumám, jakou roli hraje móda v politice, jak vyjadřuje spjatost s danou kulturou, politickou funkcí nebo společenským postavením obecně, přičemž se zaměřuji jen na pánskou módu. Srovnáním dvou historických období (meziválečného a současnosti, tj. od roku 2009) se snažím ukázat na odlišné vnímání ve sledovaných obdobích a na proměnu role módy v politice i v sociálním životě celkově v Evropském kontextu. Na symbolickou roli módy v politice nahlížím prizmatem Hanny F. Pitkin a jejího konceptu symbolické reprezentace. K vysvětlení dobové proměny hodnot, ovlivňující mj. vnímání oblečení lidí v politické sféře, používám teorii modernizace autorů Ronalda Ingleharta a Wayna E. Bakera. Tato práce nabízí odpověď na otázku, jak byla vnímána móda v dané době, jakou roli hraje v politickém zastoupení a jak reflektuje ideové založení daného politického zástupce. Klíčová slova Pánská móda, politická reprezentace, Inglehart, Pitkin, ideologie. Fashion as a phenomenon was always connected with the human society. In this work I answer the question of men's fashion in politics within the European cultural context. By comparing two time periods (inter-war period and current from the year of 2009) I am showing how the sight on the fashion in politics was changed and why. In this part I use the theory of representation from Hanna Pitkin, concretely the part about symbolic representation. To explain the change of social values between the two periods I use the modernization theory from Ronald Inglehart and Wayne E. Baker. This paper offers an answer which role plays the fashion in politics and how it is connected with the ideological background of the individual.
