4 Abstrakt Kostel sv. Prokopa v Záboří nad Labem náleží k nejvýznamnějším, ale zároveň i k nejpozoruhodnějším středověkým sakrálním památkám v Čechách. Výjimečný je především typ kostela, tedy patrová románská kaple, která nemá ve své formě na našem území jiného zastoupení. Neméně významná je pak mimořádně kvalitní sochařská výzdoba portálu kostela, která úrovní svého provedení dosahuje evropského měřítka a která je navíc zasazena do původně otevřené románské předsíně, která na našem území rovněž nemá obdobu. Od doby prvního odborného bádání Jana Erazima Wocela před více jak sto sedmdesáti lety byla sepsána řada studií a článků, které každá následující generace historiků a historiků umění obohatila řadou hypotéz a tezí o vzniku kostela a jeho uměleckého programu. Řada nepřesností a domněnek se povedla vyvrátit systematickým zpracováním písemných a stavebně historických pramenů, které se podařilo získat při opravě kostela v prvním desetiletí tohoto století. Přesto zde stále zůstává řada nadále otevřených otázek, na které nejsme schopni odpovědět. Románský kostel v Záboří nad Labem byl postaven pravděpodobně okolo roku 1142, tedy roku, ve kterém byl založen nedaleký sedlecký klášter. Za iniciátora stavby je tradičně považován velmož Miroslav z Cimburka, zakladatel právě blízkého kláštera v Sedlci. První... 6 Abstract The Church of St. Prokop at Záboří nad Labem is one of the most important and also the most remarkable mediaeval religious monuments in the Czech Republic. What is exceptional above all is the type of church, i.e. a Romanesque chapel, another example of which cannot be found in its form in our country. Equally important is the extremely high- quality sculptural decoration of the church portal, with a level of execution achieved by European standards, and which is also set in an originally open Romanesque hall, also unmatched in our country. Since the first professional research undertaken by Jan Erazim Wocel more than one hundred seventy years ago, numerous studies and articles have been written, that each successive generation of historians and art historians has enriched by a variety of hypotheses and propositions about the origin of the church and its artistic programme. A number of inaccuracies and assumptions that succeeded refute the systematic processing of written historical sources and building-historical sources, which were managed to be obtained during the repair of the church in the first decade of this century.
