Tato práce chtěla otevřít možnost aktualizace části programu Denise Schmandt- Besseratové v prostředí egyptské archeologie. Konkrétně byla vedená snahou identifikovat v materiální kultuře doklady praxe spojené využitím počítacích kamenů v roli nástroje ukládání dat, reprezentace věcí o nichž byly vedeny záznamy, případně označení věcí, které byly předmětem závazků. Předpokladem bylo, že taková praxe (NTMS) by mohla být (analogicky k situaci v Mezopotámii) i prostředím, v němž se postupně vyvíjely předstupně pozdějšího raného písma. Present work aims to revive parts of the project of Denise Schmandt-Besserat in the context of Egyptian archaeology. Specifically it is guided by an effort to identify traces of the use of calculi as a means of data storage, or representation of things as subjects of records, or obligations. The effort is based on an assumption that such a practice (kind of non-textual marking system) might be (similarly as in Mesopotamia) place of the development of earliar stages of the ascent script.
