Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to analyze the characteristic features of "the 3rd emigrational wave" authors' creative mentality; and to establish a model of the collective self-representation of the Russian emigrants in 1960-70s using publicistic pieces and essay collections by Pyotr Vail and Alexander Genis. The research illustrated in this thesis belongs to one of the most relevant and topical areas of literary studies. There have been made several scientific researches in order to achieve the goal. The methods used are: the analysis of socio-cultural, economic and political background which had place during "the 3rd wave" of emigration; a review of the scientific literature regarding the emigrant writers' creative methods; an investigation and classification of writers' methods peculiarities which correlate with the topic established; conclusions. As a result we get a holistic model of the collective self-representation of the Russian "3rd wave" emigrants which includes key features of their mentality, character, mood, habits, daily life etc.
