Dizertační práce zachycuje a interpretuje střety mezi literárněvědnými dobovými diskurzy na jedné straně a jednotlivcem v postavě bohemisty, slavisty a komparatisty Karla Krejčího (1904- 1979) na straně druhé. Na základě autorových literárněhistorických a komparatistických studií i jeho účasti v soudobých metodologických diskusích dizertace analyzuje, jak se tyto střety promítaly do jeho pojetí literárněvědné metody i práce literárního historika a komparatisty obecně. Vychází přitom z rozporuplné recepce Krejčího vědecké tvorby: zatímco je uznáván jako veličina slavistických studií, tak v celkovém kontextu české literární vědy zaujímá marginální pozici "outsidera". Dizertace sleduje, jak autor stál se svými metodologickými stanovisky v opozici vůči převládajícímu trendu. Jako adept slavistiky kritizoval její tzv. vlivologii a pozitivistické metody; v meziválečném období se přiklonil k sociologii literatury, přestože si nezískala popularitu; přes zaujetí fenomenologií i formalismem hájil svou "historicko-sociologickou" pozici vůči prosazujícímu se strukturalismu; v padesátých letech napsal "marxistické dějiny polské literatury", nikdy se ovšem s marxistickou vědou zcela neztotožnil; tvořil komparatistické studie v době, kdy byla komparatistika ještě odsuzována jako "kosmopolitní vlivologie".... The thesis documents and interprets the conflict between the literary discourses of the time on the one hand, and the specific approach of Karel Krejčí (1904-1979), comparatist, Slavist and Czech studies scholar, on the other hand. Based on the Krejčí's studies on literary history and comparative literature, as well as his participation in the methodological debates of his time, the thesis analyses the impact of this conflict on the author's literary theory method, and his work of a literary historian and comparatist in general. The analysis is based on the ambiguous reception of Krejčí's scientific work: while he is recognised as a great personality in the field of Slavic studies, he is considered an outsider in the general context of Czech literary science. The thesis describes how the author, with his methodological approach, was in opposition to the prevailing trend. As a Slavic studies scholar he criticised the 'influence science' and positivist methods employed in the field. In the period between the two world wars he inclined towards the sociology of literature, although this discipline did not become popular.
