Abstract: Communities of terrestrial chironomids, both larvae and adults were studied in four seminatural and three drained meadows in South Bohemia during two years.Multivariate analysis indicated that changes in organic matter content and water level were the most important environmental variabkles affecting comunity change after drainage.
