The bilateral symposia have a long tradition and are organized on the basis of the agreement between DFG and AS CR every two year. They bring together selected scientists, who are actively involved in experimental and numerical solid mechanics, theoretically and practically, in order to exchange experience,to report on the present state-of-art as well as on runing research projects, to discuss due questions and problems and to promote the co-operation between individuals as well as between institutions Bilaterální symposia mají dlouholetou tradici a jsou organizována na základě dohody mezi DFG a AV ČR každý druhý rok. Umožňují setkání vybraných vědeckých pracovníků, kteří aktivně pracují v experimentální a numerické mechanice pevné fáze, teoreticky i v praxi. Na symposiu dochází k výměně zkušeností, přednáší se zde o právě probíhajícím výzkumu, diskutují se otázky a problémy výzkumných projektů a vzniká se spolupráce jak mezi jednotlivci tak mezi organizacemi
