Poměr mezi hmotností podzemní a nadzemní biomasy rostlinného těla je označován jako RW:SW. Je jednou z nejvýznamnějších charakteristik nejen v produkční biologii, ale i v zemědělstí a lesnictví. Poměr RW:SW je druhově geneticky předurčen. Mění se během ontogenetického vývoje rostliny a také v závislostech na změnách životního prostředí a na stresech Ratio between weight of underground and aboveground body plant biomass is called as RW:SW. It is one of the most important characteristics of production biology but of agriculture and forest too. RW:SW ratio is geneticaly given by species. It changes during the onthogenetical development of the plant and according to relations with variability of an environmental space and stresses.
