Abstract: The aim is to analyze the issue of financial affordability of housing in the Czech Republic. First, focus will be the development in financial affordability of rental housing from 1991 to 2009. The results of analyses show that there has been a continuous increase in household expenditures for housing and that especially the households of elderly were threatened most by this trend. Finally, it is shown, that the inequalities between the wealthiest and the poorest are increasing.
