Ukrainian refugee coordinators and setting the boundaries of their work
Avramioti, Ina ; Jelínková, Marie (advisor) ; Nová, Monika (referee)
This thesis focuses on describing the nature and content of a newly emerging specific position, namely the Ukrainian coordinator. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of her role in the process of receiving and integrating Ukrainian refugees. The theoretical part of the thesis is set within the context of field social work and intercultural work, with an emphasis on setting professional boundaries within helping professions. The empirical part presents an analysis of 15 semi-structured interviews with Ukrainian coordinators. Special attention is paid to the challenges associated with setting boundaries in social and field work that the coordinators must face
Integration of people with serious mental illness into the open labour market
Syrovátková, Adéla ; Novák, Petr (advisor) ; Cooke, Dana (referee)
Diploma thesis "Integration of People with Mental Illness into the Open Labour Market" discusses the possibilities and conditions of employment in the open labour market for people with schizophrenia in the Czech Republic (focus on Prague 11+4). The paper first introduces the concept of "mental illness" from a theoretical point of view. In my work I first introduce this illness theoretically, I also use professional information from my practice and especially from my more experienced colleagues. I believe that drawing on the perspective of my clients and that of the professional staff is the most appropriate, as they have direct experience of it. In this thesis I conducted qualitative research, interviewing seven people who suffer from mental illness with whom the service has an established relationship. In the form of a questionnaire and a structured interview, I asked the patients, for example, how they perceive their life with mental illness, what difficulties they face in their life and how they manage to integrate into a "healthy" society, especially into employment on the open labour market.
Regional Integration and the Automotive Industry: The Impact of NAFTA on Mexico and Canada
Červený, Matyáš ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Kozák, Kryštof Přemysl (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with regional integration, with a focus on regionalism and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which introduced the liberalization of international trade between the United Sates, Mexico and Canada. The Thesis examines the period between 1993 and 2016. and the main topic of the thesis is the impact of the free trade agreement on developed Canada and developingg Mexico. The thesis analyzes how the implementation of NAFTA differed between Canada and Mexico. Whether the agreement had a different impact on the automotive industry in these countries and what impact it had on the workforce and investments that played an important role in the development of the automotive industry in North America. The thesis further examines how the production of the automotive industry in this region has changed, and which country has been able gain more from free market access. To answer these questions, a comparative analysis and a case study were used. These methods compare trends and developments in the automotive industry in Canada and Mexico and the impacts on the automotive industry. Based on this approach, the thesis found that NAFTA led to an increase in investment in the region, which increased automotive production. Production has shifted mainly to Mexico, which...
Integration policy in relation to war refugees from Ukraine from the perspective of the theory of the Social Construction of Target populations
Cyž, Jan ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the integration of Ukrainian war refugees from the beginning of the war in Ukraine (February 2022) to the end of 2023. The aim of this thesis is to identify the transformation of policy design in the field of integration policy, which has been implemented towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees, with whose mass influx the Czech Republic has had to deal with from the beginning. The thesis tries to identify the influence of the resulting policy design according to the proposed tools and narrative statements of members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees on the basis of the application of the Theory of Social Construction of Target Populations. The research is carried out in the form of a case study in which the primary source of data is in the form of stenographic records from the Chamber of Deputies and these records are analysed afterwards. From the results of the thesis, certain thematic narrative frameworks are evident and a positive social construction (human rights and economic framework) or a negative social construction (security) towards the target population of Ukrainian war refugees is attributed there on the basis of which policy design was enforced in the...
Legal and socio-economic integration of ethnic Germans in Austria from 1945 to 1955
Štolová, Tereza ; Klípa, Ondřej (advisor) ; Konrád, Ota (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the legal and socio-economic aspects of the integration of ethnic Germans in Austria during the years 1945-1955. The methodology of this work involved compiling available secondary sources, including historical studies, academic articles, books, and documents related to the integration of ethnic Germans in Austria during the aforementioned period. The thesis aims to answer how the displaced group of ethnic Germans from Central and Eastern Europe was integrated into Austria's legal system and its socio- economic sphere. Ethnic Germans were not included in international law and refugee protection in the early post-war years by any of the organizations addressing these issues, leaving all integration efforts to the Austrian government. However, Austria began to identify itself as the first victim of Nazi Germany, relieving the government of legal and financial obligations towards displaced ethnic Germans. The Austrian government began addressing the issue of integrating ethnic Germans in 1950. The first impulse was the establishment of an advisory board for refugee issues at the Ministry of the Interior in August 1950. The initial agreements of the board served as a basis for improving the social and economic conditions in the lives of ethnic Germans. In the...
Algorithms for integration of single-cell transcriptomic data
Ševčovičová, Zuzana ; Kolář, Michal (advisor) ; Abaffy, Pavel (referee)
Single-cell transcriptomics represents an innovative technique that allows for the examination of gene expression of individual cells in tissues or other complex biological samples. The data gen- erated through this approach offer crucial insights into various biological domains, such as em- bryology, oncology, and immunology. Understanding the functioning and mutual interactions of individual cells within tissues indeed requires knowledge of their individual expression profiles. Given the novelty of this method and technical challenges faced during data generation, com- parison of different samples may be difficult and affected by various batch effects. Effectively reconciling the information obtained regarding gene expression in distinct biological replicates or technical replicates generated by different methodologies may be onerous. The development of bioinformatics approaches to address this challenge is an ongoing process. The objective of this thesis is to: 1. survey the existing solutions for integration of single-cell transcriptomic data, 2. benchmark these solutions using publicly available datasets, specifically peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and 3. select the most suitable integration method to apply to a tumour microenvironment dataset generated by our laboratory. This bachelor...
Problematics of integration of North Korean refugees in South Korea
Bláha, Matěj ; Suchánek, Jonáš (advisor) ; Kvasničková, Kristýna (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on problems associated with integration of North Korean refugees in South Korea. The main aim is to create a conceptual framework for deeper understanding of this issue. The fulfilment of this aim was achieved with the help of research questions that address the impact of refugees and South Korean society on refugee integration. The thesis synthesizes information from existing publications using the method of systematic literature review and can therefore serve as a basis for future research. The theoretical section, which discusses terms and concepts relevant to the thesis, is followed by two chapters of historical and geographical context needed for understanding of the issue of North Korean refugees and the description of methodology used in the systematic review. The results of the synthesis imply that the level of integration of North Korean refugees in South Korea is not very high and refugees face a significant number of barriers that make this integration difficult. For the sake of clarity, the systematic research has been categorically divided into thematic subchapters, which address in detail the different areas of this specific migration and integration. Key words: systematic review, integration, North Korean refugees, South Korea, North Korea
