Architecture as an opportunity to work
Svobodová, Šárka ; Brůhová,, Klára (referee) ; Vorlík,, Petr (referee) ; Zálešák, Jan (advisor)
The dissertation focuses on the interconnectedness of architecture and visual arts in the period of 1945-1989. As the nature of the research tended to expand and its outputs were aimed both at theory (in publication outputs) and at curatorship, popularization and activism, the textual part of the dissertation is organized as a collection of published works and those accepted for publication. All five texts, provided with a common introduction and conclusion for the purposes of the dissertation, share the same overall theme and pose an identical research question – what did collaboration between women architects and women visual artists look like in the period in question? The author of the dissertation seeks answers to this question through five specific examples of creative personalities (architects Jan Dvořák and Igor Svoboda), objects (a villa with a studio by artist Imrich Vanek) and urban areas (the sports complex behind Lužánky in Brno and the Brno Reservoir). The collection of the texts then identifies and deals with current topics such as the complicated attitude of the Czech society to works created during the communist era and the related insufficient monument protection leading to an irreversible loss of material evidence of post-war architectural and artistic production in the territory of what is now the Czech Republic. The aim of the work is to point out, through concrete examples, the quality of the period production, with which the lack of protection and poor professional care by the relevant institutions is in marked contrast. Therefore, the practical outcome is a number of activities that go beyond the academic treatment of the topic. The most prominent of these include the exhibition project Rejected Heritage prepared for the Brno City Museum, the author's book of the same name and a series of accompanying public events. Popularization, media coverage and politicization of the topic, supported by expert research, are proving to be the most effective tools for saving the artistic and architectural heritage of the second half of the 20th century. The conclusion of the research is the conviction that the topic goes beyond the art history level and should be viewed from a socio-political perspective.

National Socialist culture politics: Change of German fine arts in 30s
Mojžíš, Radek ; Pelánová, Anita (advisor) ; Šafařík, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines a role of a cultural policy during 1933 and 1937 and its influence on Fine arts. It describes a link between a political power and culture. The thesis itself focuses not only on indiviual acts, but also presumptions creating National socialist cultural politics. The thesis consists of two main parts. The first introduces changes in society and art scene of Weimar Republik. The crucial moment was the Great Depression in 1929 and subsequent radicalization influencing both a society and culture. The rising influence later peaked in nazi's participation in Thuringian governemnt which enabled first attempts to regulate culture. The second part decribes the period after Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor. First bills affecting culture were passed and process of Gleichschaltung started. It also focuses on a role of institutions, associations and Hitler himself as cultural policy makers. Their main target was to eliminate modern art, which manifested in organizing a defamatory exhibition Entartete Kunst in 1937. At the same time Great German Art exhibition was held. Its main goal was to introduce artists of a new regime. In spite of these efforts, an attempt of creating new national socialist art failed.

Space, time and material in fine art and art education
Mikulková, Kristýna ; Hůla, Zdenek (advisor) ; Kitzbergerová, Leonora (referee)
The theoretical part is about concepts of places, landscape, genius loci, Land Art and in those concepts are connected through the walking. The theoretical part is structured into various individual "imaginary steps", the development of my thoughts on the subject and then refers to the cultural contexts. In the practical part I focus on descriptions and examples of my own artistic realization. The last didactic part describes the model learning schemes. I tried to follow starting experience, i.e. scheme: to live - to think out - to tell. The main part is mainly inspired by my one year study in Lisbon in Portugal. Just stay here and the opportunity to perform physically demanding 750 km long pilgrimage route across Portugal, forms the basis of my practical part performance art. This topic applies to didactic etudes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
