Circumcision in Indonesian archipelago from an anthropological perspective
Svobodová, Kateřina ; Pokorný, Ondřej (advisor) ; Petrů, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce phenomena of woman and man circumcision in historical and culture context in Indonesian archipelago. First part is about theoretical perception of circumcision. I will focus mostly on typology, history and geography. Second part will be about circumcision in Indonesia. Firstly I will concentrate on history of circumcision in the archipelago, which is known due to notes of Europe missioners during colonialist period. Then I will describe the most important reasons, which are religion and initiation. After that I will target on circumcision in present Indonesia and on social and culture impact caused by this practice. Last, but not least I will describe selected ethnics which still practice man circumcision.
Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting in postcolonial and gender context
Králová Ježková, Olga ; Jiroutová Kynčlová, Tereza (advisor) ; Havelková, Hana (referee)
This thesis concerns subject of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), ritual commonly - but inaccurately - named female circumcision. In the thesis I analyze two autobiographical texts written by women who got through the FGM/C - Mutilated written by Senegal author Khady and Desert Flower by Somali author Waris Dirie. Aim of this thesis is to analyze view point of two women who have direct experience with FGM/C, to add more information to research of this ritual and to strengthen effort to understand structural reasons for its existence and continuance. I attach myself to the side of opponents to FGM/C and by this thesis I'd wish to help to banish this ritual. My effort is connected with my feminist conviction but also with human rights discourse.
Culture and Modification of Human Body: Female Genital Mutilation in Kurdistan
Hamplová, Marie ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Soukup, Václav (referee)
The subject of the work is a theoretical and empirical analysis and interpretation of female circumcision. This distinct phenomenon is systematically analyzed with particular regard to the cultural area of Kurdistan. The work is divided into five separate chapters, and is partly based on the results of two field studies which the author carried out in Kurdistan. The aim is to contribute to the exploration of the issue of female circumcision with particular reference to Kurdistan. Keywords: Circumcision, FGM, Culture, Religion, Ritual

Tungsten-Steel Composites and FGMs Produced by Hot Pressing
Matějíček, Jiří ; Boldyryeva, Hanna ; Brožek, Vlastimil ; Čižmárová, E. ; Pala, Zdeněk
Tungsten-steel composites and FGMs are being developed for potential application in plasma facing components of fusion devices. In this study, uniform composites and graded layers produced from tungsten and steel powders by hot pressing were investigated. Formation of dense composites with uniform distribution and good bonding of the phases was observed. A thin layer of intermetallic phase Fe7W6 formed at the interfaces. Thermal and mechanical properties of the composites in the as-produced and annealed state were characterized.
Vliv podávání prášku na mechanické vlastnosti plazmových nástřiků mědi a wolframu
Mušálek, Radek ; Matějíček, Jiří
Nuclear fusion is considered to be a promising energy source for the future. One of the biggest problems which has to be solved is the development of inner wall material of the fusion reactor. For the inner parts which will be exposed to high levels of heat and particle flux, a combination of tungsten layer on copper parts was proposed. Tungsten is refractory material resistant to high heat and particle flux, while copper can efficiently remove heat due to its high thermal conductivity. But high stress concentration on the materials interface can occur due to the thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) mismatch of both materials when exposed to high temperatures. Therefore plasma spraying is promising technology for this application. One of the critical plasma spraying parameters is the carrier gas flow which has to be optimized to ensure proper particle trajectory along the centerline of the plasma flame. Obtained results are currently being used for the development of FGM coatings.
