Adhesive and rheological properties of chitosan-based mixtures

The retardant compound consists of Sodium Alginate and Hypromellose in concentrations of 30 %, 40 % and 50 %. Theoretical part describes Chitosan, Sodium Alginate and Hypromellose. As next is division of matrix tablets. Theoretically is also described evaluation of rotational, oscillational and adhesive testing which was used in practical part. From viscosity curves can be seen, that viscosity is decreasing with increasing stress. Viscosity increases with increasing concentration of Sodium Alginate and Hypromellose. Oscillational testing is better for gel characterization, because it provides lower stress on test samples. Samples of given compound were prepared by hydrating with phosphate buffer of pH 6,8. CHARLES UNIVERSITY Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Name: Vendula Longinová Title of diploma thesis: Rheological and adhesive properties of matrix for freeze-dryied oral vaccines Supervisor: PharmDr. Eva Snejdrova, Ph.D. The aim of the diploma thesis was to evaluate the rheological and adhesive properties of formulations for lyophilized oral vaccines and lyophilized tablets formulated on the basis of dextran, iota-carrageenan or trehalose. The theoretical part characterizes dosage forms for application to the oral cavity, lyophilized preparations and excipients for mucoadhesive preparations. In the experimental part, rheological and mucoadhesive properties on a rotary rheometer were evaluated. Formulations containing iota-carrageenan showed higher viscosity, higher gel stiffness, lower degree of relaxation and higher yield stress than trehalose formulations. All lyophilized tablets showed sufficient adhesion to a standardized mucin support in vitro. The performed experiments represent pilot tests of flow, viscoelastic and mucoadhesive properties of lyophilized tablets for oral administration of pertussis vaccine. Barbara Bittová Department: Department of condensed matter physics Supervisor: RNDr. Jana Poltierová Vejpravová Ph.D. Supervisor's e-mail address: jana@mag.cuni.cz Abstract: The thesis is mainly focused on the investigation of macroscopic and microscopic magnetic properties of selected nanomaterials containing cobalt and iron, and also the capability of our new device, scanning probe microscope Multimode V by Veeco, to directly visualise morphology and magnetic structure of these samples (Magnetic Force Miscroscopy, MFM). Investigated materials, such as CoFe2O4 nanoparticles and SiO2_Co_Si(111) thin films and multilayers are in general promising materials in many fields. In the medicine, the nanoparticles are used as the drug targets or contrast agents whereas in electronics, the (nano)granular thin films are the starting point in fabrication of high density storage media. The macroscopic magnetic properties of our samples are discusses in a view of superparamagnetic phenomena. The interactions in systems of nanoparticles are presented theoretically within the up-to date knowledge and also experimentally by demonstrating the behavior of the strongly-interacting, super-spin-glass system. Theoretical part of this work is dedicated to the characterization of fish gelatin and carrageenans which were used for preparation of the mixtures in experimental part of this work. Characterization of an oral cavity from an application of medicaments point of view and an orally disintegrating tablets of the medicine with a focus on the lyophilized tablets are also presented. Mixtures of the fish gelatin and the carrageenans were prepared in the experimental part of the work. Their rheological behaviour employing an absolute rotational rheometer Kinexus Pro+ was measured and evaluated. Also, the testing of the rheological characteristics of these materials transformed into the freeze-dried tablets was performed. Title: NMR in magnetic systems Author: Petr Křišťan Department: Department of Low Temperature Physics Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Helena Štěpánková, CSc. Abstract: Magnetically ordered iron oxides, namely magnetite, maghemite, hexagonal ferrite M or system Fe-B, with nano or submicron dimensions of particles are the main subject of study of the presented thesis. The materials were investigated mainly by 57 Fe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The results were thoroughly analyzed and compared with the results obtained by other methods (Mössbauer spectroscopy, ZFC/FC magnetic measurement, X-ray diffraction or TEM). In case of the maghemite nanoparticles a regular distribution of vacancies in octahedral positions was verified by the help of NMR in external magnetic fields and at various temperatures. The experi- mental results were also compared with ab-initio calculations. In thin layers of barium M type hexaferrite, effects of reduced particle size on 57 Fe NMR spectra were observed. The NMR methods were also successfully applied to investigation of system FeMoCuB of amorphous and nanocrystalline ribbons, where 57 Fe NMR was able to resolve formation of different phases in depen- dence on the process of preparation. Temperature dependence of susceptibility of thin Pb films

This master thesis is focused on temperature dependence of magnetization curves and susceptibility of thin films of type-I superconductor. A model for susceptibility of type-I superconductor in intermediate state is presented. This model is compared with experimental data yielding temperature dependence of critical magnetic field of superconductor. Furthermore it is shown that sufficiently thin film of superconductor which is type-I in bulk can exhibit type-II behaviour in perpendicular magnetic field. Susceptibility measured on such a film is therefore compared to susceptibility calculated for Bean model for type-I superconductors.
