Working and influence of Karel Lamač in the film industry of the First Czechoslovak Republic

The submitted diploma thesis is engaged in working of the film industry in Czechoslovakia in period among two world wars, which is seen through the important actor, scriptwriter, director and film entrepreneur Karel Lamač. The issue is researched especially from the perspective of formation and activity of the film companies which were professional associated with the person of Lamač. It is followed up the family background which he came from, and the milieu where he worked the First World War. It further focuses on Lamač's first steps in the field of cinematography after 1918 and on his working at the time of the First Czechoslovak Republic. It is also reflected Lamač's activity as an inventor and a journalistic author, as well as related financial profit from the subsequent sale of patents or licences to the created movies. The thesis tries to clear up the mechanisms that led to exceptional position of this artist in the Czechoslovak film industry, with regard to his professional outreach to the international sphere. The study also devotes to Lamač's most significant projects and co-workers in the field of cinematography in order to refer the extent to which he contributed to the popularity of contemporary film-stars. Troma studios and a film serie of The Toxic Avenger

Troma Entertainment Inc. is a nearly forty years working independent film studio, which is focused on production and distribution of consciously bad movies in the opposition to Hollywood. This thesis characterizes concept of bad movies and the Troma company through its representatives, ideas and movies. There is analyse of four movies The Toxic Avenger, which deals with it´s typical attributes, positives and negatives and ideological meaning.
Czech Producer and the Aspects of International Co-Production

This master thesis is focusing on European film industry and on the position of Czech producer in this system. In the beginning is cinematography listed into the system of creative industries and there is a definition of what the producer is. Furthermore are presented the possibilities of financing of audiovisual work in local conditions, which is the necessity for potential co-productions. Significant part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of structure of European audiovisual funds, which are Eurimages and MEDIA Desk and producer?s networking. In the case study is described the history of growth of Danish company Zentropa which is one of the most successful European companies based on possibilities which offers European film market. In the end of thesis is in short view described the change of industry connected with entering of digital media and social networks to audiovisual industry.
