Tension between Capitalism and Democracy
Brabec, Martin
In my article I focus on features producing tension betwen democracy and capitalism. First, I show contradictions betwen personal and private rights and present the ways in which these contradictions have been eliminated during history. Next, I focus on how in capitalism powers relations penetrate various social spheres and squeeze democratic decision. Consequently, in capitalism there arise areas where power is not accountable and the voice of the people is silent in spite of the fact that decisions concerning the people are made there.

Dejmková, Kamila ; Volenec, Otakar (advisor) ; Kochan, Jan (referee)
The aim of my Thesis is to analyze the way how Kenya gained independence, how the process of democratization had conducted and the development in the 21th century. The reason for the focus on Kenya is that it is a country which I am interested in and I want to get the new information. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter gives information about the current economic, geographic, demographic and political situation in the country. The second chapter focuses on the historical development till 1944. Includes description of the oldest inhabitants of the planet Earth, the original inhabitants of the country, settlers and colonizers. Year 1944 is chosen deliberately, this is the year when first Kenya had been elected to the National Assembly. The third chapter deals with the situation in the country until 1963, when the country was granted independence. This chapter deals with the rebellion Mau - Mau, congresses at which was discussed the constitution of an independent country, important personal proces sof independence - the first and the second president Jomo Kennyat and Daniel Arap Moi's regime. The fourth chapter gives information about the process of democratization. Here I describe how the process of democratization in Kenya had conducted and all the things that happened in the country since independence. The fifth chapter seeks to answer the question of why we can not say that Kenya is a democratic state. Describe here the notion of tribalism, which has a major impact on what is happening in the country. The members of the nation are loyal to their ethnicity in any case, and therefore it is not possible to develop democracy in the country in the literal sense.

This work is dedicated to the development's description of the de-facto new political system in Russia after V.V. Putin's accession to power and examined an estimate of democracy. Despite the constitutional limits of the former political system (1991-2000) changed only a little, nevertheless, the comprehensive reconsideration of the relations among the institutions of the executive, legislative, judicial power occurred; the centre's politics according to the regions was revised, the Party System changed. The work's aim is the Russian political system's analysis from 2000 to 2012 and specifically its seven components: (executive, legislative, judicial power, electoral system, party system, municipal government and the role of the apolitical factors) and the assessment of the examined political system if it is democratic or authoritarian. In this work the differences' consideration between the legal limits of the realized reforms and their real influence on the Russian Political System's functioning as a single whole. Officially the democratic State System is assigned in the Russia's Constitution, nevertheless, the real Russian democracy is often doubtful because of its system's components which contradict the democratic form of the government. Besides the prerequisites of the Russian Political System's successful transition to the full value democracy are estimated in this work. The functioning's peculiarities of the Russia's political system taking into consideration the generally accepted democratic standards are analyzed with the help of the chosen theoretic conceptions in the work's text.

Modelling of decision-making networks
Šilar, Pavel ; Burian, Jan (advisor) ; Šalamon, Tomáš (referee)
Delegative democracy is a new concept of democratic governance. It is meant as a new system of trust among people. It is derived from principles of direct democracy and presents only minimal form of representation. The voter is not forced to cast his vote directly, but it can be transferred to a delegate. Delegative democracy is based on openness, awareness and trust. It is still only a concept and for real application it has to face rising critics. Main issues are high costs, threat of populism and corruption and overall complexity. Agent-based modelling is chosen to test the validity of delelagative democracy principles. It is suitable for studying social phenomena such as democratic governance. Agent-based models apply a "new kind" of artificial intelligence -- a dynamic system composed of individual and autonomous units -- agents -- which interact within the environment. Universal methodology called Agentology is used to propose a new agent-based model. This methodology is composed of subsequent steps. These steps cover initial analysis, conceptual and technological proposal and development of the model itself. Assessment of delegative democracy principles is achieved with data acquired from the agent-based model. Delegative democracy is less effective for small and cooperative system than direct democracy. If more voters are delegating, this effectiveness decreases even more. This conclusion is based on initial parameters of the model. Delegating voters count is indeed a relevant parameter whereas total voters count is not. The model has its basic predicative value and is open to further elaboration.

Initiative D.O.S.T. as a radically conservative challenge of present
Kříhová, Dominika ; Rataj, Jan (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Miloš (referee)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of initiative D.O.S.T., currently one of the most important Czech extreme-right groups. D.O.S.T. comes with a radically conservative critique of current concepts and direction of democracy, yet she managed to reach support among political parties accepted as legitimate and also influential public figures. The work is based on the assumption, that the main reason for this is that the initiative despite being extremely right-wing organization, highlights also real deficits of democracy. Therefore it can be seen as a challenge of present. The aim of this paper is to analyze critically this challenge by mentionning the initiative in all relevant contexts. The paper therefore deals firstly with the intellectual and political roots of its founders in the extreme right-organization called Právo a Spravedlnost. After it analyzes the initiative itself, its manifesto, activities, the main problematised issues and linkages with other political forces. In conclusion, the papers considers the perspective of eventual genesis of a new political party established by the initiative D.O.S.T.
The Social Mobility of particular Collectivity
Kročáková, Eliška ; Novotná, Eliška (advisor) ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (referee)
The main topic of my thesis based on the Social mobility of the specific collectivity is the issue of the social mobility. In the theoretical part I have been focusing on the social stratification which is very closely linked to the social mobility. The fact is that without the clarification of the social stratification my interest in the social mobility won't be clear. There are also defined the basic terms of the main problem and its relation to a democratic regime. The practical part deals with the specific research of the existence of the social mobility in the chosen collectivity. As a research method I was using the questionnaire survey.
