The Czechoslovak Exile Government during the Second World War and its Attempts for the Repundiation of the Munich Agreement by France and Great Britain

Bachelor's thesis " The Czechoslovak Exile Government during the Second World War and its Attempts for the Repundiation of the Munich Agreement by France and Great Britain" examines the development of the struggle of the Czechoslovak exile government's own recognition as the legitimate representative of the Czechoslovak Republic and the associated repundation of the Munich Agreement. Thesis in the period 1938-1942/3 examines the process of the formation of our exiled government abroad, its recognition by world powers and repundation of the Munich Agreement with a brief account of some events that preceded the Munich conference and the war. It uses the method of descriptive case study. Based on these information it is clear that the above process was the result of complex diplomatic negotiations. The UK government hesitated many times and had a number of comments. The situation has always changed with how the war changed the situation on the battlefields of World War II. Jan Masaryk as radio commentator in wartime BBC

This thesis focuses on Czechoslovak radio broadcasting on BBC from September 1939 (when the separate Czech program started there) to the end of World War II in which there were participating political representatives of Czechoslovakia after partial recognition of Czechoslovak government in the exile by the British government in summer of 1940. Main theme of the thesis are the radio speeches of Jan Masaryk, the former (longtime) Czechoslovak ambassador in London and future Minister of Foreign Affairs of the exile government. He launched the Czech Programme of BBC for listeners in the Protectorate on 8th September 1939 and began to appear on the waves regularly once a week in February 1940. The thesis analyzes how he tried (in his speeches and comments) to encourage self-confidence of the nation, how he tried to nullify germanization endeavors of occupiers and quislings to reinterpret Czech historical narrative and by usage of what ideological weapons he was creating the image of small, but internally strong and mature Czechoslovak nation, morally exceeding its inherent German enemy. He used this story as a rhetorical shield against the Nazi interpretation of the Czech tribe, who returned to the womb of the modern Holy Roman Empire, where it belongs as natural part - by the words of the Nazi propaganda.

The assassination of Reinhard Heydrich - terorist action or the act of legitimate defence?

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and the main goal of the thesis is to provide the answer to the question if the assassination was a terorist action or the act of legitimate defence. There is a theoretical basis described in the first chapter defining the concepts of teror, terorism, occupation, collaboration, resistance and passive acceptance. The second chapter analyses the Munich treaty and the circumstances of its enclosure, the begining of the World War II. and the situation of czechoslovak government in exile during the first two war years. Briefing of the parachute landings from april 1941 to april 1942 is written in the end of the chapter. The third chapter analyses occupational polititcs of Neurath and Heydrich, the development of anti-nazi resistance in protectorate, Heydrich's coming and operation and there is a comparison of Neurath's and Heydrich's politics at the end of the chapter. Forth chapter speaks about preparations of the assassination in the homeland and about its successful fulfilment. Nazi reprisals and investigation are also included in this chapter. The aim of the fifth chapter is to analyse the international importance of the assassination and to provide the goal of the thesis which is described above.
