Charles Baudelaire - The Flowers of Evil

The subject of this bachelor's thesis is the personality and work of Charles Baudelaire. We are interested in how Baudelaire's life and also the historical period in which he lived influenced his output. The aim of my work is to show why the Charles Baudelaire's collection of poems The folwers of evil was so exceptional in its time and why it was initially rejected by some critics as well as later positively received by others.The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to show, how was the reaction on Baudelaire's work in Bohemia and how translations from the Czech authors differ. The thesis also discusses Baudelaire's relationship to women, especially to Jeanne Duval, and how is his cohabitation with this lifelong partner reflected in poems of the Flowers of Evil collection. We are also reflecting of Baudelaire's conception of beauty, and by that we demonstrate novelty and originality of his poetry. Charles Baudelaire's work brings new, unknown possibilities, which disrupt and change previous aesthetic norms and gives poetry a new dimension and inspiration for next generations. Baudelaire's personal writings (diaries and correspondence)

The aim of this thesis is to analyze published texts of personal nature of Charles Baudelaire, an important poet of the 19th century, whom we rank among the so-called Cursed Poets. We focus on the texts of the author's diaries and correspondence, in which we analyze important motifs and subsequently observe how it is reflected in his poetic work, especially in the collection of the Flowers of Evil. In this work, we first introduce the author's biography and literary work together with published texts of personal nature, then we focus on the essential part of this work, which are the topics in the aforementioned diaries and correspondence together with their reflection in the author's poetic work. The results of this analysis are summarized in the very conclusion of the thesis.

Otokar Březina and Charles Baudelaire: The metaphor of the light and the soul

This Diploma Thesis deals with the topic of the light and the soul in Charles Baudelaire and Otokar Březina in general. Then it concentrates on the particular motifs of the light and the soul and their metaphors. The main point of the Thesis is the poetic texts of both of the writers. The method used in this part is the literary and aesthetic analysis of the texts. Respect to the fact that it is focused on the comparative research, the following method used is the method of comparison which includes the charts with the frequency of the keywords in both of the authors and the enumerations which illustrate the issue of the present chapter. The aim of the Diploma Thesis is not only the comparison in the form and the interpretation but especially the determination of the similarities and the differences of the two poetic types within the framework of the present theme and the literary and historical context.
