Influence of physical parameters and age of power lines on PCL/BPL performance and reliability
Janás, Jan ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Benešl, Lukáš (advisor)
With the increasing demands on data transmission, other ways are being sought than standard data transmission via conventional data cables. One of these ways is communication over power lines - PLC or BPL technology. This method of communication is widely used in households, energy, industry and other fields where it is used for data collection, communication, or control of various devices. Before considering the use of BPL technology, it is first necessary to evaluate the considered power line to see if it is suitable and technically competent for this purpose.
Smart modul integrated in power plug
Rusz, Martin ; Musil, Petr (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this work is focus on Powerline Communication technology and select a suitable type of broadband integrated circuit for the integration of a broadband communication module into an electrical installation box. In the introduction of this work, the Powerline Communication technology, the principle of communication, individual types of technology, factors influencing the quality of transmission, current possibilities and setting goals necessary for the design of the module are analyzed in detail. The result is a miniaturized functional prototype of a fully integrated broadband PLC modem in a wiring box.
Influence of physical parameters and age of power lines on PLC/BPL performance and reliability
Benešl, Lukáš ; Sláčik, Ján (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
BPL technology is quite widespread nowadays and the public is also somewhat aware of it. This technology can be used as a means of communication without the need to install additional media and thus use the existing infrastructure. In an effort to use the full potential of the technology, BPL communication began to be used to monitor the current state of cables in distribution networks online. Where the technology is already fully implemented, the distributor can use the data to evaluate the current situation. In this way, BPL technology can be used as a diagnostic tool to test the quality of a cable connection on which not only time but also humidity and other external influences could have a significant effect.
Design of a system for detecting devices connected to the electrical network
Homola, Michal ; Kováč, Daniel (referee) ; Musil, Petr (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with the design of a system for detecting devices connected to power line network using the measurement of high-frequency noise through BPL (Broadband over Power Line) modems. The theoretical part involved familiarization with Power Line Communication (PLC), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), impedance issues in PLC, and characteristics of noise in PLC. In the practical part, the suitability of the chosen PLC modems for the actual measurement was verified, followed by the measurement of temporal and spatial variability of network noise characteristics using these modems. For temporal variability, an experiment involving long-term measurement of refrigerator activity was conducted. For spatial variability, measurements were taken at multiple locations, with some locations serving as a training set and the remaining ones as a testing set. After selecting an appropriate machine learning model, the input data were feature engineered accordingly, followed by their evaluation.
Visualization of PLC/BPL communication in the map
Klíma, Petr ; Rusz, Martin (referee) ; Benešl, Lukáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the implementation of an application for visualization of the PLC communication network (PowerLine Communication). The principle, advantages, disadvantages and variants of this type of communication are analyzed. Attention is also given to the use of this technology, especially in the construction of smart grids and for the diagnosis of cable lines, which is also used by the application. The thesis also deals with the problem of predicting the state of cable lines and the parameters on which this prediction is based. Some current possibilities of map visualization are also discussed and the application itself is created using the javascript library Leaflet and static map tiles. The application is focused on BPL technology, but it allows storing data on any connection made by any transmission technology. It allows displaying information about the network and displaying network elements on a map, filtering BPL connections according to the state of the cabling, configuring individual parts of the topology and the ability to create and read database backups. The behavior of the application can be easily modified by editing the file with constants.
Design of a system for detecting devices connected to the electrical network
Homola, Michal ; Kováč, Daniel (referee) ; Musil, Petr (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the creation of a system for detecting devices connected to the power network using the measurement of high-frequency noise obtained via BPL modems. In the theoretical part, there was an introduction to the issue of PLC, electromagnetic compatibility of EMC, the issue of impedance in PLC and noise characteristics in PLC. In the practical part, measurement of noise characteristics for individual devices and the creation of a dataset took place. The dataset, which was then tested on five machine learning models selected for this task based on their properties. Finally, the suitability of each model for our application was evaluated.
